THE APPRENTICE 2009

Post by mariana44 » Thu Jun 04, 2009 4:53 pm

Cannot remember any mention of this at all this year, and I guesss now it is within a few days of the Final, just a bit late.

I have loved this series as I did all the others--fantastic TV.

I think Yasmeena will triumph in the Final.

The Apprentice was last mentioned in "The Lounge" Marian, I think one of the last episodes we were discussing was Philips "Dance In Your Pants " catastrophe.
We have been watching and somehow thought that Sir Alan was going to surprise us last night with Debra in the final.
I'm glad that James didn't get through
We await now to see Kate and Yasmeena in the boardroom for the final on Sunday tearing each other to pieces.

I had a feeling it must have been mentioned somewhere before now. I'll go check it out.

Did anyone watch Room 101 last night with Alan Sugar who was evenly matched with wit from griller Paul Merton about Sir Alan's pet hates, which are schmoozers, and men's wigs. ?
He asked, why do they wear them when we can all see them.

I have been watching "The Apprentice" this year though, to be honest, I haven't found any of the contestants as interesting as in previous year's and have found it difficult to "root" for any of them, although I would be quite happy now for Kate to win as she seems to have come up well from a modest background. But I'm sure Yasmeena will be formidable opposition. While it looks on the surface a safe bet that Yasmeena will win - entrepreneurial, risk-taker etc - I guess it will partly come down to who does better in the final task, which we have yet to see. I will certainly be watching.

We always watch it as well and think that the best two are in the final.
This years Apprentice hasn't held us as much though.
It will be really interesting though to see what flavours they come up with for a box of chocolates!

On the rare occasions when I do watch them,
I am always dismayed by the humiliation element
that seems indispensable to reality shows, so-called.
I find it off-putting; unrepresentative of the British
character. Such shows exploit participants' desire
to appear on television; like the others, The Apprentice
is a milder version of that other t.v. abomination,
The Jeremy Kyle Show. Sorry!

That is a different way of looking at it Keith.

Although I have to say, I love "The Apprentice"--but I would not watch Jeremy Kyle if you paid me---well, I might watch, but I would not enjoy it !!!

Never watched the show but news leaked out that Jeremy Kyle is or has been far from a saint himself.

I would say The Apprentice is pretty mild in comparison with many other 'reality shows' although the candidates do humiliate themselves at times during the tasks, some of which are ridiculous anyway.
Jeremy Kyle is a similar format to one of the first, Jerry Springer.
I wonder where they find so many argumentative people to populate this kind of show, and who want their private lives to be aired in public in this way. I thought they would never find them in the U.K. but we seem to have as many as the U.S!

I see Margaret Mountford is leaving the Apprentice next series. I'm quite sorry to see her go.

I just saw on Teletext that Margaret was leaving--yes she will be a loss to the show--she talked a lot of sense, and some of her expressions and comments were very amusing.

I read that she wants to spend more time on her hobby of finding out about Ancient Egyptians-----so quite a big change from "the Apprentice"
