Tony Awards 2009

Did anyone see the Tony Awards on Sunday night? Will they be broadcast in the UK? It was a great ceremony with fabulous production numbers.
All of you would enjoy it. I may have to make a trip to NYC to see the revival of Bye Bye Birdie this autumn.

I didnt see the award show itself, but I heard Billy Elliott won the main awards...?
I hated the movie - is anyone out there a fan?

WE SAW THE FILM AND THE WEST END SHOW.THE FILM WAS VERY 'SCHMALTZY'(THINK THAT MEANS SENTIMENTAL!)THE SHOW WAS SO MUCH MORE IMPRESSIVE AND REALISTIC PARTICULARLY DEALING WITH THE MINERS STRIKE DURING BILLYS STRUGGLE TO BECOME A BALLET DANCER.

Liza Minnelli won a Tony for the best special theatrical award : Liza At The Palace.

The movie really wasn't my cup of tea and it put me off the stage show, but I shall take your comments on board.
