News tonight that 61 year old Andrew Lloyd Webber is about to fight the dreaded Prostate cancer :( ............ let's hope ALW has better success than others to fight the disease, notably Patrick Swayze who passed away recently :(

We hope so Robert, and the same applies to anyone else who has been diagnosed with this disease. My cousin's husband is going through this right now, and after Two years of taking advice ( like packing up smoking ) and regular check ups is doing ok,
There is only so much treatment available no matter how many millions are in the bank.

I believe Patrick Swayzee had pancreatic cancer Robert, that is a much more aggressive disease than early stage prostate cancer. As Sir ALW has been diagnosed with it early, hopefully he will make a complete recovery, as Bob Champion did all those years ago.

I was sorry to hear about Lord Lloyd Webber.

Prostate cancer can be treated--but it can still be a killer, as I know from my experience with George, also my neighbours son in law, who was not even 50 when he died from prostate cancer--an unusual case.

All the money in the world will not save you--just luck.

As Marian has said, pancreatic cancer is a very aggressive form of cancer and not treatable in the same way that prostate cancer is, at least in the early stages. Didn't realise ALW is only 61 - thought he was older than that. But I wish him a speedy return to full health.
