We have just heard the sad news that Malcolm Laycock has passed away.
We and thousands of other listeners missed Malcolm when he left the BBC Radio 2 Sunday programme.
He made a huge contribution to music and broadcasting
R.I.P. Malcolm.

So much sadder in Malcolm's case. His wife passed away just after he left Radio 2.
He will be missed by many, in particular The Sinatra Music Society of which he was Honorary President.
He was a lovely man, a true gentleman.

Just heard it on the news this morning-how tragic.
Chris Dean from the Syd Lawrence Orchestra was only talking about him when we were at a S.L.O. concert at the Palace Theatre Mansfield this Sunday night.
He was asking the audience to sign the petitions that they had put out on the front of the stage and in the foyer asking the BBC to play a larger variety of big band music besides the BBC big band.
As you say Lena and Harry we had met him and he was indeed a true gentleman treated very badly by the BBC.
And so soon after his wife had died too

There was a touching tribute from David Jacobs last night on the sad death of Malcolm.
He said he should still have been on the radio and finished with an appropriate Tony Bennett song 'There will never be another you'.
Claire Teal also paid tribute by replaying the show where Malcolm played many of HIS favourite songs.
It was good to hear his former long time producer Bob Ockshott speaking so fondly of his wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm of a career he obviously loved so much.
There was no comment as far as I know from his last producer Bob McDowall.

An interesting piece in the Sunday Express about Malcolm Laycock from his sons on page 16.Also a comment on page 24 from the paper.
Their is also a review if that is the word to use of his funeral last Thursday attended by 200 people including Chris Dean of the Syd Lawrence Orchestra .
