MAGGIE JONES R.I.P.

Post by Marian » Wed Dec 02, 2009 6:54 pm

I heard at the start of the Paul O'Grady Show the sad news that the actress Maggie Jones has passed away. She was a great favourite in Coronation Street as Deidre Barlow's mother Blanche. She acted the part as the crotchety old mum so well, and I know I will miss her, as I'm sure will many others.
R.I.P. Maggie, the Street will certainly not be the same now that you are no longer there.
Marian.

Yes, very sad to read the news tonight. She had been ill for a few weeks but seemed to be improving and hoped to return to the Strret in the New Year. She was by far the best character in Corrie, she will be very sorely missed.
R.I.P. Maggie Jones.

Maggie first appeared in Corrie a Deirdre's mother in........1974, News at Ten showed a clip from the time, and she was so young looking, compared to now  ...........she was quite chubby then but attractive too :) .........but she still had that same distinctive Blanche voice  RIP

I was really shocked and saddened by this news---especially as she had seemed to be on the road to recovery. I always loved her scenes--she was a great actress, and always made me laugh.

I am sure her fellow actors on Corrie are really going to miss her.
