Thursday 25 February - Radio Nene Valley - Michael Smith

Post by Administrator » Wed Feb 24, 2010 11:45 pm

I was told by several people recently that dad was one of the most requested artists on hospital radio and of course that spurred me into action. I wrote to a number of stations and offered myself up for interview. I was thrilled by the positive responses and so the first of these is on Thursday 25 February. I will be talking to Michael Smith on Radio Nene Valley, live at 7.00pm. This show will broadcast to Northampton General Hospital. Unfortunately there is no outside stream but I am hoping they might send a tape of the interview.

You were allowed good scope to cover practically everything in this interview Michele. "Your father's daughter" - indeed.
It's not really surprising that Matt Monro songs are the most requested on Hospital radio stations as there are so many great ones for every possible occasion.
Another good interview. :D

Michele is now a practised hand, a veteran of the airwaves
interview. Listening to each one reminds me of the single,
15-minute radio interview I gave (on County Sound) when I published
my slim volume of verses in West Cork in 1995. When I kept my studio
appointment at 10 a.m., I fully expected the encounter to be recorded,
never thinking the radio powers-that-be would risk unleashing a novice
like me onto the airwaves. I nearly fell of my chair when presenter
John Greene declared a few seconds from live broadcast:
'Sure, we'll be off any moment now.'
Michele will confirm that once you start discussing the subject
close to your heart, awareness of the studio paraphernalia
flies out the window.
Thanks, Michele, for bringing back happy memories.
Keith
