It is MONRO Robert....
I'm presuming these ads are inserted by the promoters though, and if they'd have spelled it wrongly, there'd have been no hope.

Hi Bill, good to hear from you, and good to know you are keeping busy.
We've taken a peek on Youtube, nice singing and nice songs Bill, couldn't recommend the lady who toppled over for jogging though, don't take her with you.   The summer weather we've had for tha past few days has disappeared,
but grey skies are gonna clear up, so we'll put on a happy face. :) :)

Cheers Lena and Harry,
You two are always first on the button and I'm sure Michele and her Team appreciate your input! I've just received a note from a friend regarding the release of Matt's Manilla concert in front of 24,000 people - wow! It's released next month! As I've been away for a while I'm sure it's listed somewhere on this Forum!

Sadly on the tickets (for the now canceled concert in Inverness) and the entry in the what's on guide for the Eden Court it was spelt "Munro" and not "Monro". But I think they can be forgiven up here in the Highlands as Munro is the common spelling. Incidentally, The Munros are the highest of Scotland's mountains, 284 mountain tops named after the man who first catalogued them, Sir Hugh Munro. The Munros are among the finest mountains in Scotland. There are quite a few of them here in the Highlands. The next down in size are The Corbetts. Well, a Corbett would have to be smaller, wouldn't it? :)

By the way, this morning my local butcher, a Scotsman in his mid thirties had no idea who Matt Monro was, let alone know he had a son who sings too. So he assumed Matt was a Scottish singer or musician, maybe with a Pipe Band? (((SIGH))) Great shades of Jimmy Shand!

Butchers!

Post by Billmiler » Thu Oct 16, 2008 8:02 pm

Tell your butcher - meat to please you and pleased to meet you!!! Tommy Cooper walked into a butcher's shop in Scotland and said"Can I have some meat off the top shelf"? The Butcher said "Sorry Sir the steak's too high"!!!!
Enjoy the week-end where-ever you are!

I realise this is a report from last year's tour Matt did in the Philippines, but it just goes to show, just how popular Matt is, and he shouldn't let one man's opinion from this year's tour get to him.
We're all behind you Matt. :D

Matt Monro Jnr. fever hits the Capitol

By Florence F. Hibionada
Matt Monro
TNT's Florence Hibionada and Provincial
Budget Officer Elena Lim also took the opportunity
to pose with Matt Monro Jnr.

For about 30 minutes yesterday, everything literally stopped in the Capitol, seat of the Iloilo Provincial Government. And the nationwide transport strike has nothing to do with it all.

What it was, was the surprise visit of international balladeer Matt Monro Jnr. who made the rounds from the ground floor up to the sixth floor. To the delight of shrieking fans in capitol employees and officials too, the dashing Matt Monro Jnr. gamefully posed for pictures. Luckier ones in the women fans got a kiss including Fourth District Board Member Shalene Palmares-Hidalgo and Budget Officer Elena Lim.

Even the "grilling session" of Vice Governor Rolex Suplico to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Patricia Grace Trabado was stopped with the Vice Governor seeking for a minute of suspension. Trabado was called to appear before the Committee on General Services and Human Resources following questions raised on her eligibility.

Committee chair Fifth District Board Member Jesus Salcedo Jr. was introduced to Matt Monro Jnr. with the singer impressed when told that Salcedo Jr. is the youngest board member here.

Yet it was to be First District Board Member Richard Garin who shared the limelight with Matt Monro Jnr. Garin belted a few lines of "Born Free" and "Impossible Dream" that got the singer to say that only here in the Philippines where he can find good singers everywhere.

"My father loved the Philippines," Matt Monro Jnr. said when given the chance to speak inside the session hall. "And he told me that if I want to live happily ever after… find a Filipina wife."

Garin in jest then announced, "whoever wants to be Matt Monro Jnr.'s wife, fall in line." Second District Board Member Rodolfo Cabado jokingly told "hopefuls" nearby, "go ahead and get rid of your husbands first."

For 30 minutes, everything literally stopped in the Capitol yesterday. And yes. The nationwide strike definitely had nothing to do with it.

Marian and Matt Jnr!

Post by Billmiler » Fri Oct 24, 2008 5:19 pm

Marian,
Thanks for that! What a story and proving how popular the Monro name is in that part of the world, both then and now! I hope to see Matt Jnr in Brecon next month.
