Matt Monro Jr in Newport

Post by Edgar » Sat Nov 12, 2005 12:02 pm

What can I say! What a magnificent evening. First the vocal skills of Roy Leslie who is a fantastic singer, and then the highlight of the show. I must confess to having a tear in my eye when he came on. The mannerisms, chat and humour are just like his Dad was when I saw him 21 years ago. An early song called I believe "Emily Jane" was beautiful. Has he recorded this? As the show went on he got really into it and he certainly has a way with audiences. At the end of the show, he sat at the end of a long line of autograph hunters and I confess, I went around the other side( sneaky) bacause I just wanted a photo. He was in the middle of signing when I asked him for a smile and he willingly obliged. When I told him I was going to put it in the Scrapbook, he was delighted. What a lovely man, just like his Dad!

Glad you enjoyed the show. The song you liked is called "Thanks to the Lord" but unfortunatly dad never recorded it although he sand it several times in TV performances.

Don't forget to visit my special man in Portugal at murph@lagos.me.uk and he will post your avatar for you.

Hope to see you soon
