Last Friday we went to Doncaster Civic Theatre to see Matt Monro Jnr's tribute to his father, part of the 20th anniversary tour....... a really interesting and enjoyable night which I 'm sure Matt Snr would have loved.
Yes...a nostalgic evening of his greatest music, as you would expect Matt Jnr has many natural similarities to his Dad and he has crafted a presence on stage which takes you right back to the 60's and 70's with Colin Keyes at the piano.
The voice is good,a bit different to Matt Snr(which you would expect ...that voice will never be repeated) with great intrpretation and excellent stage presence....I particularly liked his own up beat number indicating that while the tribute has to take centre stage there is an individual performer itching to be released and make his own mark in the music world.
