Continued..........
It's clearly a dilemma since the celebration of his fathers music has great appeal..... the audience loved it....particularly the duet, but I feel more of his own work is essential in building and developing his own style and fan base.
The other great ingredient of the evening was listening to the accompanying band ..really swinging.funloving performance that was in harmony with the tribute atmosphere.with Colin Keyes on piano directing the arrangements and playing as he did for Matt Snr all those years ago.
I'm not sure if,or how, this kind of tribute concert can be repeated in the future.but the formula works and I would encourage 'management' to consider how the theme could be developed and built upon in the future.
For all those many fans of Matt Snr out there,if it does come round again, you will enjoy the experience of'young son'recapturing lots of memories, his music, his mannerisms, his performance..A GREAT EVENING OUT.........
