I enjoyed Matt Monro Jnr's interview with Eric Hall on Fathers Day.

Matt Jnr sounds like a nice, professional young man. I like how he mentioned listening to Earth Wind & Fire, and especially Imagination, the best British soul group ever. It would be great if Matt Jnr would include an Imagination song in his tour or next album. For instance, Just An Illusion, Music and Lights, or In The Heat Of The Night, would be great sung by Matt Jnr. I also think After The Love Has Gone or Reasons by Earth Wind & Fire would be great for his tour or next album.

Hi Paul--I love "Earth Wind and Fire"--especially "After the love has gone"
and another fave of mine is "September". A great group, and great music.

My three favourite EW&F songs are Reasons, Can't Hide Love, and Fantasy.

Remember when Black Box did a remake of Fantasy in the 1990s? It was actually quite good.

But, being the true Anglophile, I much preferred Imagination and they are my favourite group of this period. I wish they would do a reunion tour.

Hi Everyone,

Matt Jnr will be the guest of David Allen on his Saturday night radio show.
David said last week that Matt Jnr would be appearing on the show sometime in November, just ahead of the fans reunited evening.
I'm sure that Michele will let us know when or if David mentions the date in November, I will post the info here.

David is a big Matt Fan and he plays a song most weeks.
Last Saturday was no exception. The listener that selected their top three songs of all time, put Matt at number one with "on days like these" and said that he was the BEST singer ever! :D Well we wouldn't disagree with that would we?

www.bbc.co.uk/radiooxford If you want to hear last Saturday's show and haven't heard David before, why not use the listen again feature - I know you will all like what you hear!

Hi All,

Matt Jnr. will be the guest of David Allen on his radio show next Saturday.
The show starts at 9pm - Matt Jnr. should be on at 10.30pm.

If you can't listen in on the night, then why not use the listen again feature as the show will remain on the website for a whole week!
www.bbc.co.uk/radiooxford

David is a VERY good presenter. He actually listens to what his guests are saying!

In the past, David has interviewed Jack Jones, [hello Marian in Reading!] Johnny Mathis, [hello Marian in Kent!] Tony Christie, Paul Anka plus many others as well. It should be a good show this Saturday night!

Thanks Hilary, we'll keep that in mind. We have heard this show Two or Three times. We remember there is very little talk in between the music which is a pleasant change.
Except when interviewing guests of course.

Hello Hilary,
Many thanks for the info. Will try to remember, but will definately tune in for the repeat over the following week if I miss it.
There are so few presenters who appear to actually listen to their guests these days. I do enjoy Michael Parkinson's interviews though as he always seems interested in his guests, and the interviews are not as rushed as on many programmes.

Hi All,

We listened to Matt Jnr. On the David Allen show last Saturday night.
The interview was VERY good. Matt Jnr. talked about his days as a professional golfer and how his dad tried to play the game with him!
Matt wasn't that good but he did the best he could!

Matt Jnr. also went on to say that he had been living in Spain in recent years but because he has been SO busy with work engagements lately, he hasn't set foot in the country for about 18 months!

What we thought was so nice about Matt Jnr. other than his music of course, was that he thanked the fans for supporting his father and him.
Matt Jnr. also said that he spends quite a lot of time with the fans after each and every show, just talking to everyone about his dad and his lovely music.

Matt Jnr. gave the website a couple of plugs too,[Michele will be pleased with this!] and said that he will be under taking a 52 date tour next year!
He seemed to be a VERY down to earth sort of guy and was also very unassuming too! :D

If this wasn't enough as well as the two tracks that David played during the interview with Matt Jnr. [one from Matt and then a duet with Matt and Matt Jnr.] One of the listeners put "on days like these" at number 2 in their top three songs of all time. Not bad I think!! :D

If you want to listen too the show then go to www.bbc.co.uk/radiooxford
David's show will remain on the website until next Saturday night! 8)

Thanks for the details Hilary.
Have just listened to the interview, which I thought was excellent. Brightened up an otherwise dull, rainy, miserable day here in Reading!
- but the Royals did beat Spurs 3-1 last Saturday

Marian.

I can't find the David Allen show on Radio Oxford's site. I saw it last Saturday, but it was the previous week (Nov 4). Where is the November 11 show?

Yes Hilary, that link works OK :) Just press "listen again" Paul. Also Paul did you know there was a Radio2 documentary on Dusty Springfields album "Dusty in Memphis" last night (8.30-9.30). I'm listening to it now on the "listen again" feature.
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

So many things to listen to before I leave for London tomorrow! Right now I'm listening to Jamiroquai's live set from Maida Vale on yesterday's Ken Bruce programme. Their performance is absolutely fantastic ... their songs sound even better live than on record. I wish I could have a CD of this live performance. They've written some wonderful songs in the past 10+ years. I know some of you don't like soul, dance, and funk music, but soul is probably my favourite music to listen to (after Matt Monro). Jamiroquai is a perfect mix of soul, dance, and funk.

Then I will try to find Matt Monro Jnr on Radio Solent. After that I'll listen to the Dusty In Memphis feature. Thanks for the reminder, Robert.
