A PASSIONATE WOMAN

Post by Sandra » Mon Apr 12, 2010 4:17 pm

Did anyone see this last night?
Great TV .I particularly thought of you Marian(a) with Johnny Mathis singing
'A Certain Smile' throughout the first part.
So evocative of it's time :D

I watched it on the iplayer Sandra. Quite good, and as you say, evocative of it's time, the girl typically naive  :)
Nice music from JM though :)

I did not see it--I rarely watch plays or films.

"A certain smile" is my best friend's favourite song-she cries every time she hears it---especially at a concert , where he sings the seldom heard verse.

Quite honestly, it is not one of my favourite JM songs-would not even make my top 100 !!

Have watched the second episode. I enjoyed it as much as the first.
What a wonderful actress Sue Johnston is, and having not seen much of Billie Pipers acting ability, I thought she was great in this first episode, where she played the main role.
Some nice familiar oldie music again in this second episode, and the scene with Johnny Mathis... "A Certain Smile" is quite touching. :) :) :)

I agree Lena and Harry. The second part touched me as much as the first .
The music of the time and the fairground scenes particularly got to me as my first 'date' with John was to the fair and we spent many happy times there in those days.
My Mum had said I was an idiot going on that first date as it was pouring with rain.
We have now been married 48 years so eat your words Mum :D :D
