Sounds good to me. We have a meal first and and then maybe Matt Jr and the family could join us for drinks afterwards which would be really memorable. We could travel too, would prefer Bristol, London or even Newport which has nearby hotels. And the cruise idea is really good, as wew are dedicated cruisers!

This all sounds good---a concert, plus a meal on another day also sounds good--more of a break! Marian

I agree we should wait for Michele to get back. But I will point out Matt Jnr is performing in Newport on Saturday, November 18. It's a quick 3 hour coach ride from Heathrow Airport (for the overseas fans). I stopped in Newport once on a National Express bus from Cardiff to London and it looked beautiful.

Paul, can't imagine why you would describe Newport as beautiful, but I'm with you all the way on this one as I'm in Cardiff only 12 miles down the road, and that would suit me real fine. I went to see Matt Jr in Newport last year and the venue (Riverfront) is superb. Even Matt made a remark about it in the show.

Perhaps it's not Newport I'm remembering as being beautiful. I just pulled up a South Wales map and the coach may have stopped at Chepstow. This was in 2000. All I remember was that it was a special little town---a place I would want to return to one day. I think the coach first stopped at Chepstow and then Newport, and then nonstop to London's Victoria Coach Station. Is Chepstow far from Newport?

Chepstow is more like it. A small picturesque Welsh town. The actual route is London Newport and Cardiff. I believe only the coaches from Gatwick stop at Chepstow. It's about 30 minutes drive from Newport to Cardiff. You could always stay in Cardiff. Now that IS a beautiful city!

Hi--can you try and make it somewhere reasonably easy to get to--for those of us who do not have their own transport. I would not mind travelling to Cardiff--easy enough from Paddington Station, but I would need to be able to get to and from the concert venue easily.

I suggested Newport because of Matt Jnr's Saturday November 18 concert and it's easily accessible on National Express. I checked National Rail and there are nonstop trains to Newport from London Paddington. But we shouldn't get too ahead of ourselves, and we should wait for a recommendation/decision from Michele.

[I just enjoy planning trips to the UK and this sounds exciting (Matt Jnr's concert, touring Wales, quiet time in the Cotswolds, etc.). ]

I did say that we should wait for Michele but I ws just making a suggestion. I couuld travel anywhere in England or Wales and I'll go along with the majority. Newport would obviously suit me because of where I live, but as I said, I'll go with the majority. Mariana, ifyou do come to the concert in Newport, I can give you a lift from Cardiff if necessary!!

Hi Edgar--thanks for the offer. I really appreciate that ,and would be pleased to take up your offer, if needed. Again, I do not mind where we go. But as you say, with Michele away at the moment, it is just speculating---but it's fun to think about!

Hi Edgar

Thanks for your reply, I cant seem to find any forthcoming dates for Matt Monro Jnr concerts, perhaps I am looking in the wrong place, I am a bit new to this game, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

PS I have just brought the DVD, Portrait of Matt Monro, a really excellent DVD, well worth a watch for any fans.

For your convenience Anita, I have copied Matt Monro Jnr's 2006 concert dates from the News section on this website. They were at the bottom after the description of the soon-to-be-released Matt Monro/Nelson Riddle CD. I can't wait for this CD to be in the shops! And I hope to attend one of these concerts this year. Unfortunately I can't watch the DVD because it doesn't work on American DVD players.
