Haven't been able to catch up on the weekend's programmes yet Robert, but from those earlier recordings there was a big difference with Matt's phrasing. :) :)

The only way I have been aquainted with David Jacobs is on the Dvd with Matt AnEvening With Matt Monro... I detect in his voice how much he loved Matt and said England had lost their greatest voice. How true!! I just wanted to connect and say Hi to everyone ... and like David ... I am and will be always true to Matt.... Also as for Bobby Darin... Did any of you see Kevin Spacey in Beyond The Sea... Bobby's life story ? Best wishes to all

Hi Lori, yes, David Jacobs does love and respect Matt and Matt's music, and he shows that in the DVD.
We did see Kevin Spacey in the film Beyond The Sea. Some thought that he was a little old for this Bobby Daron role, but he did quite well and used his own voice which is rare for movies of this kind.
Hope you are well Lori.
We have been basking in sunshine these past few days, but it's a little cloudy this morning. :) :)

I cannot believe I missed Matt again---I remember David Jacobs saying "Hello there"--then I was fast asleep !!!

I spotted the swing programme on BBC4, so managed to tape that, but not watched it yet.

Marian -- The good thing is that you slept through Robert Goulet. I was able to fast-forward through him. But the rest of the programme was excellent.

Robert -- I hope you enjoyed Margaret Whiting with Frank DeVol, one of the many great arrangers from that period and from my hometown. :)

The programme was worth it just to hear Matt Monro singing The Shadow of Your Smile. This song keeps rising on my list of favourite MM recordings.

I also enjoyed Stanley Black's recording of Here's That Rainy Day and wasn't Gordon MacRae's Dancing In the Dark spectacular?! He is an amazing singer.
