Thanks Richard.

I wonder why then it's listed as 'Volume 1' if they only have little left?

The BFI has a listing in their holdings for one or two of the Gracie Fields editions, but whilst I have emailed them a few times, they haven't replied about them.

I do have a fair few audio recordings of Gracie Fields' appearances, and a few of Tommy Steele's too. I must get in touch with the people who made the DVD, so maybe they can issue them on an accompanying CD!

The BFI do list a lot of items, but it doesn't actually mean they hold the items - for instance they list all episodes of Matt's Rediffusion series "Meet Matt Monro" but have no copies of it - These were lost when Rediffusion lost it's franchise and are probably are now landfill!

I notice that it isn't listed as Volume 1 on Networks site.

There is a change of time on Eric Hall's Sunday programme It's now on at 2.o'clock until 4'oclock, instead of 4 to 6, so have just played it back. Eric's longtime friend Paul Watts who worked with Eric at Mill's music publishers helped to reminisce with songs from the Fifties.
Starting with Al Martino....naturally   Don Cornell, Dickie Valentine, Alma Cogan, and more ...... :) :)

The last couple of evenings we have watched some old movies sent to us by a friend in America. A great movie with "Kay Kyser" and his band, and "The "Hollywood Canteen" a who's who' movie with so many stars. The film received Three academy award nominations. !!! :)

We watched Two DVDs all about Bette Davis last night. Her career from the beginning, her Four marriages and family. One biological daughter, who wrote a seething book about her, .typical .One adopted son and daughter.
Bette Davis was a wonderful actress, had a long and marvellous career, but finally had Four strokes after a long illness with breast cancer.
Isn't it amazing and sad also how these stars through illness and ageing in their twilight years regardless of appearance, still have the need to appear in public and hear the applause. :(

Yes, she was always a favourite of ours John, and we knew what would be coming from "Now Voyager" ...oh Jerry, don't let's ask for the moon, we have the stars." and then the scene from "Baby Jane" where Joan Crawford lifted the lid to find the dead rat on her plate.
Not forgetting the film "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" where Al sang the titled theme song. :) :)

Last night we watched a dvd celeberating what would have been Ira Gershwin's 100th birthday in 1996. An excellent concert, with a lot of well know tunes, all the singers were really good, although there were several I didn't know, but it was nice to see Rosemary Clooney and Vic Damone amongst them. :D
