Oh dear, oh dear. I think last nights show was awful-I did not like any of the songs or performances-they all seemed to lack something-could it be "charisma".??? My 2 favourites, Leon and Emily were spectaculaly awful--and heaven knows what Emily was wearing!! It looked like she had dressed in the dark.

I thought Kimberley looked way too old in that red dress, hair style and make-up. And Alysha's song did nothing for her. And what happened to Rhydian's hair???

As for the girl group "Hope"--well words fail me !!! If they were not good enough to make the final 6, then why are they in the live final. I hated the song they sang--yes, I know it was no 1 for ages, but I did not like it one bit, and they certainly added nothing to it.

I think this is the worst line-up ever--and I think Sharon walked, because she knows it too.

I think some big changes need to be made before next year's show--if there is to be one !!

To continue--what about Leona's new song--after a year away, I just did not think it was good enough--maybe the unfortunate title put me off before I heard it---"Bleeding Love"--just does not sound nice.

But she did look great !

I must admit Marian, I agree with you. I thought she sang well as always, but the song just didn't really do anything for me.

Dreams and Love

Post by paul jh » Mon Oct 22, 2007 9:17 pm

Of course, I didn't see X Factor, but I knew that someone must have sung Gabrielle's Dreams, because it debuted at #113 on yesterday's I-Tunes chart. Many people must have liked the X Factor performance. I read on the Gabrielle forum that Alysha didn't sing it well, and Sharon Osbourne panned the song. I knew there was a reason why I can't stand Sharon Osbourne or her husband. Anway, Dreams is a song that only Gabrielle should sing.

I also don't like the title Bleeding Love, but the song has been in my head the past two days. It has such a strong hook. It debuted on yesterday's I-Tunes chart at #1. People are expecting it to be number 1 on the singles chart this Sunday and sell over 100,000 copies. As I mentioned before, this is one of the most exciting chart weeks in years. I wish I could be in the UK to experience it and see what's selling in the stores.

I didn't enjoy "Bleeding Love" at all. I couldn't make out a lot of the words for a start. Leona looked okay, but this just isn't my cup of tea.

Saw "Westlife"s new song on the Paul O Grady show tonight and thought it was quite good. Then again, I also quite like "Take That'"s new one as well, I think it will be quite a battle between the three of them.

Westlife is not released until next week. Yes, there will be another battle next week. Then in a few more weeks we have new singles by Kylie Minogue and the Spice Girls. Very exciting times for the British singles chart!

In just two days, Leona Lewis has sold 66,000 -- unbelievable. Take That's Rule The World has sold 29,500 -- also very impressive and one of the highest two day totals for the year! :) At first I didn't care for the Take That song, but it's really growing on me; I like it much more than Patience. McFly and Britney Spears have sold around 11,000. And the excellent Sugababes single About You Now is still selling well at 11,700. Very thrilling times for chart fanatics like myself!

I think I heard the Spice Girls new single the other day-a charity record I believe someone said--I did not realise until it was over. I also heard Kuylie Minogue yesterday-and I think I heard Take That also--I need to hear them a little more to form an opinion

Westlife have been plugging their single all week on TV, much to my sister's delight !!!

I like the Kylie song, Two Hearts. Like Rule The World, it's another grower, so be sure to give it some time. I haven't heard the Spice Girls' Headlines yet. Yes, it's the Children In Need single. Is the Westlife version of Home any good? I like the song, but don't like any recordings I've heard (except Elliott Yamin when he sang it on American Idol).

I was not sure about "Westlifes " version of "Home" at first, as I really love Michael Buble singing it [sorry, Paul !!], but the Westlife one is growing on me.

It is true that they do a lot of cover versions--but on their new cd-apart from "Home"--all the other tracks appear to be original songs---but I do not know what they are like !!

Westlife, their record label, and management know that their audience loves covers of sappy ballads, actually some are good songs until given the Westlife treatment. (Sorry Jill and Michael.) I don't think they write any of their own songs. One of their biggest hits, A World Of Their Own, was not a cover (at least I never heard it before). I'm sure they are making a lot of money with the covers.

HMV writes the following about the new album:

{Westlife are rightly proud of the new album. “It’s very Westlife,” says Shane, “but Westlife needed to step into 2007.” To this end, and under the boys own instruction, new songwriters and producers have been brought in. 'Back Home' contains twelve brand new pop songs, recorded over the summer, with production credits including Quiz Larossi, Per Magnusson and Rami. Includes the lead single 'Home'.}

...a bit misleading, as Home is not a new song, and I fear Have You Ever could be a cover of the dreadful Brandy song.
