DAVID JACOBS. Tribute BBC Radio 2

Next Wednesday evening,the 2nd of March at 10.o'clock PM, there is a tribute programme for David by the station's former controller Jim Moir....(and not before time) to one of the longest serving contributors to BBC Radio and television industry, of his career etc.
There are a host of celebrities to add their contributions. Looks good

I cannot ever remember a time when I was not listening to David Jacobs---I'd so love to see some of the old "Juke Box Jury" programmes again.

We would like to see some of those programmes too Marian like Juke Box Jury.
One or Two of these we feel sure still survive, when so many of those variety programmes at that time were deleted.
By the way this Radio programme as a tribute for David Jacobs is in Two parts, so Juke Box Jury is bound to be mentioned, having just read in the Radio Times that at teatime on Saturdays somewhere in the 1960's it was egg and chips and Juke Box Jury!

The second part tonight on BBC Radio 2. 10.O'clock covers David's successes since the Fifties with the TV hits and radio programmes.

Another enjoyable hour listening to more of the good times in David's career and some sad ones too, with David telling of how he has lost family loved ones, but then along with other great singers and as we had been hoping David talked of Sinatra and how he had said that Matt was Britains best singer, David agreed, and played Matt's "I'M GLAD THERE IS YOU."
Could do with more programmes like these.

Have yet to listen to tonights show, but last week, David said Frank threatened to shove the microphone up Davids nose if he mentioned Ava Gardner during an interview

What a brilliant programme this was so interesting but quite moving in parts ................I know David has mentioned it on his shows before, what Frank said about Matt is awesome to hear ...................one final point, I thought Pete Murray sounded completely different to what he used to

We also said and thought how different Pete Murray sounded too Robert. I suppose it's the age thing again. He's 82 now.

But David Jacobs voice always seems to stay the same--I am not sure how old he is now. I was surprised that Pete Murray is 82 .

Yes the years roll on Marian. As far as we know Pete Murray was born in 1928, although there seems to be discrepancies about the year he was born, so he may even be older than 82. He was one of the first presenters on Six Five Special, that was 53 years ago.

Oh heavens--I remember 6.5 special--I loved it--I can still sing the theme tune----was it Jo Douglas with him--never heard of her since.

Yes- a really excellent second part.As you say Lena and Harry we could do with more programmes like it.
What a wonderful song 'I'm Glad There Is You' is

Yes it was Josephine Douglas on 65 Special Marian, and Matt's song "I'm Glad There Is You" brings out his diction that few can match Sandra and John.
