MATT ON CORRIE
MATT ON CORRIE
I do not suppose I was the only one to hear Matt singing on Corrie tonight, during Jacks last moments--very moving scene.
I was wondering, do the producers have to ask permission to use a song [or part of] in a show like this?

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
I thought it was a lovely touch, and a special ending for one of Coronation Street's favourites.
Our Matt will now always be a part of Corrie's history too.

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
Yes it was a very fitting song and tribute to Corrie's favourite couple.

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
No one mentioned the song
please, will someone divulge that information
........as already mentioned a while back Portrait was played during Peggy and Franks wedding in Eastenders

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
Sorry Robert, it was 'Softly As I Leave You'. So appropriate. We did name the song on Facebook and forgot to mention it here.

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
Happy to say that the segment has been mentioned on the News, Loose Women and Lorraine Kelly's Breakfast Show on Monday. In fact she said "Everyone should die to Matt Monro, what a way to go"

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
Lorraine Kelly mentioned this in her article ... (A fitting farewell to Jack ) in todays newspaper.
She said...Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all shuffled off this mortal coil to the strains of the legendary Matt Monro and dancing cheek to cheek and in the arms of the one we love most, just like Jack did.

SAYING 'SO LONG' IN STYLE
It simply confirms a feeling we had before:
Matt Monro is still a singer to die for.

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
Just liseniing to Eric Hall, with Bill Tarmey as guest and talking of the final emotional episode on Corrie and yes, it's our Matt now singing "Softly As I Leave You "
Bill said it was his wife Ali who chose the recording.

Wish I'd listened in Lena. I suppose I can always 'listen again' though.

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
Yes, there is the Listen Again feature Marian. It's keeping up with Eric that's often a problem, and although Eric mentioned that last Sunday's guest Barbara Cooke told him that he speaks too fast you will soon know that if fell on deaf ears.

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
A particularly great selection of songs from Eric this week for Remembrance Sunday. And to listen to Bill Tarmey AND hear Matt singing 'Soflty'-wonderful

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
Just been listening to Bill Tarmey on Listen Again
..........sorry L&H, but it was the Corry producer who chose Softly as I Leave You
................it was Bill's wife Ali who chose the music for his leaving party

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
Whatever Robert
it was all a good choice of music

Re: MATT ON CORRIE
Catching up on last nights 'British Soap Awards' it was wonderful to see Bill Tarmey win a Lifetime Achievment Award showing highlights of his Corrie years ending with a very small piece of Matts 'Softly'.
And then he won again for the best exit storyline where we were treated to the whole scene where he danced with 'Vera' to
our Matts 'Softly'
.
Nevertheless it was sad to see Elizabeth Dawn struggling to breathe presenting the first award to 'Tyrone' on 'Jacks' behalf
and 'Jack' himself unable to attend as he is resting whilst awaiting an operation
