Well deserved award for Doris Day. Along with Vera Lynn, Anne Shelton, Bing Crosby, she was one of the most popular choice requests on the radio during the Forties and from then on, particularly on the Two Way Family Favourites programme. :)

I just read the thread about Herb Alpert.

The first record I bought by him was an EP with Up Cherry Street but over the years I bought his back catalogue on cd - however I remember buying the single of Casino Royale which is a classic and more recently the 2cd set released funnily enough by Decca as Herb was never on that label, when you hear all the hits together it really is a feel good set.

Just listening to Janice Long last night-something I rarely do-but I could not get off to sleep---then out of the blue Matt came on, singing "From Russia with Love"--what a treat---Janice does not often play music like this, and I would guess that she does not play Matt often, so I was really surprised !!

Been listening to Patrizio Buanne tonight, a great young Italian singer, he sings super versions of Il Mondo (My World) and My Love Forgive Me and many other popular Italian tunes. He sings some songs part English/part Italian. :D

I heard Matt sing "Walk away" today, on "Top of the Pops"--again, a programme I rarely hear, and I only heard about 15 minutes today, so I was lucky to catch Matt--ass I recall Tony Blackbrn introduced him as "the Great Matt Monro".

Hey Mariana, is that programme "Top of the Pops" affiliated with the TV Show? I was really bummed to learn it got taken off the air. I used to watch it everytime I visited Europe and loved it! That's where I first saw The BCR's!!
