I believe one of Jack's was issued by Jasmine. To return to JJ it was good to see you got a reply from him on facebook Terence, even if he gave no further info about the RCA albums.

Hi Marian

I am pleased that I managed to convey the message to him regarding his RCA albums. Didn't expect him to reply but he did which made my day.

Is this song by Jack rare Marian?

I think this is another Jack Jones Terence. I once bought a magazine from Australia thinking an article would be about our Jack, but it was a blonde long haired rocker!

Marian have you noticed the two bonus tracks on the forthcoming cd? I've never heard of them, have you? I have both albums bought years ago in the States.

That reminds me of the time I ordered a Johnny Mathis LP-=-[thats how long ago it was!]-I knew it was one that I never heard of before, but it did say Johnny Mathis--but when it came , it was by a singer called "Country Johnny Mathis " !!!!!

What a disappointment !! You would think that they could not be alowed to use an established stars name.

Needless to say, I refused to buy the Lp !!

It's the same with Jackie Trent Marian, sometimes on Ebay there is a single with a title that was unfamiliar to me and Jackie knew nothing about it either - it turned out there is a country/hillybilly singer with the same name and spelling!

I checked the song aganst the CDUniverse site and it has been recorded by 990 artists - however that does not mean to say it was the same song, however some of them had a few of the lyrics after the artist's name and they were Dinah Washington & Boz Scaggs, Vikki Carr's name was also there so I presume she recorded the same song.

You are right about Vikki Carr singing it Karl. She recorded it for her album Discovery 2 in the early 60s. It's on CD.

Jack Jones: "Love Ballad"

by Bruce Fessier
Palm Springs Desert Sun, December 13, 2011

This album should have earned a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Pop. Jones reads the title track with the honesty Sinatra brought to saloon songs. He brings the same world-weariness to the classic "I Can't Get Started" before pushing the tempo with a lilting swing and singing around the melody with the freedom of a good jazz singer before giving it his signature big finish.

Jones reinvents some of his nearly 50-year-old hits and uses all of his tools to make this album a showcase of his still-enviable skills. The live in-studio sound means we hear a few flaws with his amazing takes. But just his remarkable version of David Gates' "If" makes that approach worthwhile.

Jack may have to do a duets album to get a Grammy for older material, but that shouldn't be difficult. He's known in traditional pop as the singer's singer.
