Just seen the news that Shirley is making a good recovery in hospital after an emergency stomach operation.
Get well Shirl.

I was surprised to see about Dame Shirley and her emergency op---it sounds as though she is doing well, so let us all hope it was nothing too serious.

From what I read yesterday, she didn't actually have an operation, just a minor procedure to relieve abdominal discomfort.
I think I can guess what that might have been!
Marian.

Hi Lena and Harry

Dorothy Squires's artistry has always fascinated me and it is a shame she is not well known in my country. I wish DVDs of her concerts are available for commercial sale so that more people can appreciate her.

'Goldfinger' was played by Richard Allinson on this morning's Radio 2 breakfast show.
Cracking song, isn't it?

Let hope we get Matt tomorrow as Richard will be playing a Bond theme each morning around 7.15 am.

Hi Terence, although to some, Dot was not the best singer in the world but she had stage presence and warmth that led to her having an army of loyal fans. In fact she was the highest paid singer and entertainer in the post war years and in the Forties. Eric Hall adores her recordings and rarely leaves her out of his Sunday shows.
Gray, that song Goldfinger can only be associated with one singer can't it. :) Matt is bound to be played. We'll listen in.
