Singing In The Rain

Post by Lena & Harry Smith » Tue Mar 13, 2012 11:23 pm

We went to see this fantastic show last night at the Palace Theatre, with Adam Cooper and Scarlett Stallen playing the leading roles.
This is the best and happiest show we've seen in a long time. The songs are ones that we all remember, and the choreography superb. The Singing In The Rain scene, was incredible.
We've all raved over Gene Kelly's performance, and laughed at Morecambe and Wise, but this live scene with Adam Cooper was brilliant, and with the people seated in the front rows showered with water, had everyone on their feet cheering. We have never seen so many people leaving a theatre with such a smile on their faces. :)
It proves that the leading roles don't have to be someone famous.

Sounds great ! Is Scarlett Strallen a niece of Bonnie Langford---the name sounds familiar.

Marian, Yes, Scarlett Strallen is Bonny Langfords niece, and very good she is too. Her sister Summer Strallen is in the same profession. :)
We were a liitle further back so stayed dry Marian, but some in the front rows must have known what was coming. They were wearing plastic ponchos.
They needed it. He was stamping in the water and kicking it out to the music.
A great fun filled atmosphere
We did enjoy it Sandra. !!!

Thanks Harry and Lena---Summer Strallen is the one that I have seen on Tv, and I guessed that Scarlett could be a sister---a talented family !

Really pleased you enjoyed this, Lena & Harry.
Please may I ask if the show included the 'Make 'Em Laugh' sequence?

Yes Gray, Make Em Laugh is performed by Daniel Crossley who plays the part of Cosmo Brown( Donald O Connor in the movie ) He mainly performed his own routine but done brilliantly. :)

Where's the orchestra if the water is being kicked out to the audience Lena & Harry? If they are in the pit they'll be half drowned!!!!! Unless they are sitting with raincoats on

Thanks for that, Lena.
I have always loved the 'Make 'Em Laugh' sequence, I can remember trying to copy it with friends when I was but a young pup. :)
Needless to say, we all ended up bruised but with smiles on our faces. :)

The orchestra is almost hidden and on a balcony high up above the rear stage. Saved getting a drenching Twice nightly.

Gray, isn't this the kind of things that we did as kids and growing up, and whatsmore we survived. Perhaps the part of the Make Em Laugh routine in this show .....the running up the door for instance was probably forbidden due to health and safety regulations  , :)
