My Kind of Girl played on Wogan Mon 29.9.08

Post by debbie » Mon Oct 06, 2008 9:45 pm

Hi Everyone
Just had to sign up so I could say I heard My Kind of Girl by Matt Monro for the first time on Wogan on 29.9.08 and it was amazing (as I am sure you all know!)

Whilst checking out what cd's are still available I came across you guys so wanted to say hello ...so hi! My hubby is a part time musician and he has always said Matt was one of the greatest singers ever - so its surprising we dont actually have any of his music in our collection. This is being swiftly remedied as I have now sourced some to add to my Christmas wish list!! :D

:) Welcome to the forum, Debbie. Very glad you have found the wonderful music of Matt Monro. You will be happy with any Matt Monro CD you find at a record store or online. I have many compilations and I love each of them. And then after you become familiar with the hits, I highly recommend the two CD set "The Rare Monro". It's a favourite of many of us. Another must are the EMI two-fers, especially The Late Late Show and These Years, and This Is The Life and Here's To My Lady. And now there are several live concerts available and DVDs too. They will all make perfect Christmas gifts. :D

(Is this our first reference to Christmas this year? Usually we start talking about it in July! )

Welcome also from me as well Debbie. "The Rare Monro" is a must have, plus the 3cd set "Matt at the Movies" is just as good. In fact, any Matt Monro cd is very highly recommended by us all. 8)

"Portrait of my Love" has just been played by Mr Wogan.
He described Matt as magnificent. :)
