Another newbie

Post by cmartin_ok » Mon Oct 13, 2008 6:09 pm

Just registered; I'm Chris Martin (but not the one from Coldplay, I was here long before him!)
I have no musical or artistic ability, sadly; one of my dreams would be to be able to play a musical instrument. One of my grandfathers could listen to a tune, sit down at a piano and play it; this ability has skipped 2 generations in our family as both my daughters can play the keyboards and guitar.
Hobbies include photography and listening to classical music (when I get the time), spending toomuch tme on internet forums (I am an administrator on the Roger Whittaker forums which are spookily similar to this one! php must be taking the forum world by storm).
If this works, here's a photo of me in action taken in Holland Park, September 2008, by a fellow photographic fan.
Surprised that there aren't more posts by new members.
Oh, before I forget, my dad spent the past 20-or-so years of his life working in Harrow.

Thank you. I have wide and varied musical tastes (but nothing too contemporary). I believe it was Princess Margaret who said that her musical taste went from Mozart to Tom Lehrer, prompting the investigation by the British Press of who the heck was Tom Lehrer. Well, he's one of my favourites too, along with Dean Friedman (frequently panned for the song "Lucky Stars"), Clifford T Ward (who I believe died tragically young), Roger Whittaker (as previously mentioned by me), Fred Wedlock (whatever happened to him???), Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Neil Sedaka, Randy Edelman (who went on to write scores for many movies) and The Carpenters

..not forgetting some of G&S (and did you know that Sir Arthur used to live in the McDonald's drive-through just down the road from me?)

You have some great taste in music Chris, I also like Roger Whittaker, Neil Sedaka and love The Carpenters, as many of us on the forum do. 8)

I take it is wasn't a McDonald's Drive Through in those days Chris!
Interesting to hear that fact though. :D

Talking of the Carpenters, another of my favourites too, I see Richard Carpenter is going to team up with another girl singer to make some new recordings. He said he's not intending to replace Karen, but it can never be the same though can it?

No, I could not find it--and when I did a search on Richard, it just came up with an article from Last February.
