So far, I have been enjoying the Olympics more than I ever thought---and this weekend has been just great.

On the down side-I have several friends who have been to various venues-and they all say the food situation has not been good--eg---a meat pie on a cardboard plate for £5.00 ! But they have all loved the actual games and venues and events.

It's been a brilliant Olympics for Team GB, I've had a few tears in my eyes for our wonderful sportsmen and women. Even my 93 year old Aunt made a point of watching Jessica Ennis last night!

Sorry Andy and Linda only had a silver this time, but they were nearly there. A wonderful Games with our athletes doing soooo well!!
Well done for Ben Ainsle on his gold.
For once, the BBC has been worth the licence this time time!

I agree --BBC has been brilliant, covering every event live from start to finish.

I've joined our athletes and shed tears too Geoff, and I agree that the BBC have excelled with the coverage.
It was a shame that Andy didn't get his second gold medal but he can be proud that he beat Federer today.
Jamaican Usain Bolt is something else, and said to be the richest track and field athlete earning around $20 Million annually

Not being a "Native Son" of the U.K., I use your country's names interchangeably.. I do this with "America" & "United States" at home!
So when I use "England", I could mean "Great Britain", but I also use "United Kingdom" which includes Scotland & "Wales"!?
I guess I am incorrect to use these names as I do, so please clarify the right way to use these names (i.e. Robert or Karl)
I knew Andy Murray is Scottish, & when I wrote "England", should I have used "United Kingdom" or "Great Britain"?? Please Enlighten Me!

Good question, Henry.

I thought that Great Britain is an old term, but they actually mean the same.

So glad that swimming is over. I've been waiting for track and field, which I could watch all day long. Gymnastics is nice to watch too, but I wish NBC would show more of the athletes.

The United Kingdom consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Great Britain is England, Scotland and Wales.

I loved watching the sport this weekend, though I have to admit to doing no chores the whole time! :)
I have been flopped out on the sofa eating doughnuts watching supremely fit athletes showcase the majesty of the human body. :)

PS How ironic that the (over?)paid professional sportmen let Team GB down in the soccer, whilst the amateurs have done GB proud! :)
