Sept 11 - The Anniversary

Post by Eman » Tue Sep 11, 2012 1:13 pm

Being that today is the anniversary of the tragic 9/11, please remember to give a moment of silence to remember those who have lost their lives. At work at around 8:30 we will have 5 minutes of silence to remember the fallen.

Last night there was a documentary on tv about it and tonight it will be the firefighters recalling the events.

One can hardly comprehend what it must have been like in New York that day, I hope nothing like that ever happens again.

It is hard to believe how long ago that all happened--it still seems so current. Every time I look at my photo album of New York, I can see the Twin Towers, because we spent some time on Liberty Island, and there was such a spectacular view from there--plus photos taken from a helicopter, and from the top of both buildings-and the base-looking up-truly awe inspring--and I find it hard to believe , that it went so quickly, along with thousands of American citizens--but the photos make it so clear how vlnerable the twin towers were, and how they proved to be an easy target. I pray that such a terrible tragedy will never happen again, anywhere in the world.

I was in Ohio one year afterwards and attended a memorial service, it was very moving. The Police and Firefighters all there in their dress uniforms and many veterans too.

R.I.P to all those souls who died on that dreadful day, also thinking of their friends and families affected.

Did anyone see that tv documentary about 'the woman who never was?' She pretended to have been in one of the twin towers that day, and she managed to escape, but that her fiance had been killed. She actually named 'her fiance' as someone who had been actually there and had perished. She managed to convince many people that her story was true, and even set up a charity for the
bereaved families, and everyone thought she was so brave and caring. Until her story was found to be completely false.

I did not see that programme, but it sounds unbelievable---I guess she was lookig for attention--but how unfeeling do you have to be , to try and get attention from such a terrible happening.

Yes there's always someone ready to make money out of a situation, even one as terrible as 9/11. It makes you wonder if they have a soul?

We can hardly believe that Eleven years have passed since that dreadful day, but it is so vivid in our memories as we both sat here in shock watching this entire tragedy on TV.
The terror that those people in the Towers experienced hardly bears thinking about, and those 3,000 or more innocent people who died in this cowardly attack will live on in their friends and families minds for always, and we can only express our thoughts and condolences on this anniversary date to all who suffered on this terrible day. :( :(
