Happy Birthday to the UK Singles Charts, and what a start for Al Martino, "Here In My Heart" was his very first record and it was number one for nine weeks! I think that has only been beaten a few times since.

Yes, the first No 1 in the British charts John.
They celebrated this 60 years on BBC Breakfast Time TV time yesterday morning, and from the Ballroom Blackpool where the great Worlitzer was playing, couples were dancing to Here In My Heart. Some 5 year old school children were given earphones and asked to listen to Al's recording and their replies were quite funny.
I suppose they are not used to hearing the words to songs.

We always had Radio Luxembourg on at home. We enjoyed listening to the music, but It was mainly for my mum to hear Horace Batchelor conning her in to thinking how he could increase her chances of winning the pools.

It was the late 60's/70's before I started to listen to Radio Luxembourg on a little radio on our kitchen table, a DJ I remember very well was Elvis fan Tony Prince ...............I was listening to Radio Luxembourg one night around midnight time when they announced Elvis had passed away

Looks like we were all raised on Radio Luxembourg- I really should not be too surprised, but up until now, I have not known anyone else who listened in--of course as I recollect, there was not the variety of music Programmes that we get now--all I can remember is Family Favourites on a Sunday, followed by Billy Cotton, and a request programme for childrens music.
Do you remember the pirate Radio stations--Radio Caroline was the one I listened too--then the big change to Radio 1 and Radio 2. Somewhere I have the Kings Singers, singing all the changes on a record called "Sme Enchanted Wavelength".

I thought some of you may be interested to know that Jim's funeral was a beautiful send off, the place was packed people were standing at the back and were even in an overflow room where they could hear but not see the service.
The lady who conducted the service was so nice as some can be rather impersonal. I was very proud to be mentioned.
Music was played several times during the service including two songs from Dusty.
On speaking to some people afterwards we all agreed that Jim was one of the nicest, kindest and most genuine people you would ever want to meet. One of his old school friends was there and he is now an MP, he came with us to the reception and sat and chatted to us - very nice man.
Prior to going down to Cheshire I was invited to the well clinic as I haven't been for five years. My BP was up but they agreed Jim's death and my mum's anniversary could be the cause, last week they were even mroe concerned - it was down but not enough and I came away from the surgery feeling more stressed than I've ever felt!!!
Yesterday it was checked again and I prayed it would be down as I did not want to be on pills for the rest of my life. It was down considerably and they did not expect that, I was delighted but they are going to keep a check on it for now.
It's strange how you can feel fine but events in your life can play havoc with your BP.

Glad to hear that Jim got a good send off. Funerals are never easy, but it is something that you have to get through.
Hope your blood pressure keeps down-I'm sure it was just a temporary glitch.

My cholesteral is also high, I've cut down on the cream buns too.

Glad Jim's funeral went as well these sad occasions can Karl.
As for Blood Pressure is concerned I was prescribed medication very recently, mine was up and down too. Then they prescribe a diuretic to sort out the side effects of the BP tablets, so that how it goes, on and on. I just feel as you get older you lose all control of your body to the GPs and their medications, and I don't like it!
