Happy New Year Mark!

Many Filipinos are such good singers. I'm listening to some of them like Joanna Ampil, Erik Santos and the one I like most of all Ariel Rivera. I don't think they are well-known in UK.

Hi Terrence,
Wow I didn't know you knew Ariel Rivera and Erik Santos? Give Jed Madella a shot. Not too keen on Richard Poon as he's a Buble wannabe. Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano are pretty good and for females Regine Velasquez, Vina Morales , Donna Cruz and of course Sharon Cuneta. Hope you are doing well.

Was in the car listening to Tony Blackburns Radio 2 Pick Of The Pops programme for 1963.

He played Mel Torme singing 'Coming Home Baby ' and said that he was know as The Velvet FROG.

Don't know if anyone corrected him or not!!

Hi Eman

I am doing fine, thank you. :D

I have an interesting CD by Martin Nievera in which he sang songs from the Great American Songbook. Love his version of Witchcraft.

Richard Poon does a good version of You & I in his latest CD. I have always loved this song from Goodbye Mr Chips.

My favourite Filipino song and the only one I can sing is Dahil Sa Iyo.

Terrence,
You should hear The Lettermen's version of "Dahil Sa' Yo (Beacuse Of You). It's pretty cool

Karl, you're right in the UK the Filipino singers aren't known, but if you ever want to hear any lemme know.

Apart from Lea Salonga, the only filipino singers i know are via Terence--it is a shane we do not get to hear them more in the Uk, as the singers i have heard have had great voices.

Hi Eman

In what album did the Lettermen sing Dahil Sa Iyo? Is it on CD?

The 2nd Filipino song I can try to sing is Ngayon at Kailanman. It's a powerful ballad.

Terence, I don't know the exact lp but it was only a one off for the Filipino market. I think it's on you tube. Stand by and I'll try to find the link.

Hope it works

Ngayon At Kailanman (Now and Forever) is a powerful ballad and it's kinda hard to sing..LOL It was a big hit in 1977 by Basil Valdez and is his signature song.

Hi Eman

The link works perfectly. Thank you.

I am very surprised that this classic Filipino love song has also being sung by Nat King Cole.

Wow Terence I didn't know that. It would be cool if they discovered some tapes of Matt singing in Filipino. My folks would really flip!
