BBC'S LIST OF TOP 100 ALBUMS APRIL 2013

Post by mariana44 » Tue Apr 02, 2013 9:57 am

Did anyone listen to this yesterday--spread over all day.

Is it me, I just did not recognise a lot of the slbums let alone some of the singers.

Really surprised to see "COLDPLAY" at the top of the list.

Even more surprised to see "KEANE" in 2nd place---just who or what is Keane--male, female or group ??

I checked out the whole list when it finished, and found that I had 10 albums out of the top 100. They were--

at #19 SIMON AND GARFUNKEL-- BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER
#33 BEACH BOYS --PET SOUNDS
#53 CELINE DION --FALLING INTO YOU
#72--BARBRA STREISAND --GUILTY
#73 FRANK SINATRA---SONGS FOR SWINGING LOVERS
#74 SIMPLY RED--STARS
#80 MICHAEL BUBLE--CRAZY LOVE.
#84 BEE GEES--SPRITS HAVNG FLOWN
#88 CARPENTERS-A SONG FOR YOU
#99 DIONNE WARWICK --HEARTBREAKER

as far as I could see, it was one album per performer, if not maybe Frank Sinatra or Barbra Streisand or Michael Buble may not have made the top 100.

And where was the likes of Johnny Mathis: Tony Bennett: Jack Jones; more important--where was OUR MATT ???

Mariana, Keane is a 3 man band from Sussex Their big hit was "Somehere Only We Know" from their debut "Hopes and Fears". They are pretty mellow and I do like them a lot. They remind me of my holiday in Spain in 2006. I was there when they released their second cd and bought it there. Hmm you are right where is Matt, Jack Jones and even Val Doonican on the list?

I agree Marian but I suppose if you listen to Radio 2 on a daily basis as a lot of us do how many actual
songs do we know these days. As for Radio 1,even less

If you are lucky enough to get on their playlist as Coldplay are you will hear their latest release forever and a day :(

Marian I hear what you're saying and agree with you but uthe likes of Mtt, Johnny Mathis & Jack Jones are from a different era.

Dusty In Memphis is always being applauded butu it's not there either.

The titles listed that I have in my collection are;-

The Beatles - Sg: Peppers:
Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Trouble Water
Billy Joel - An Innocent Man
Stevie Wonder - Songs In The Key Of Life
Abba - Arrival
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Donna Summer - Bad Girls
Celien Dion - Falling Into You
Neil Diamond - Beautiful Noise
Barbra Streisand - Guilty
Frank Sinatra - Songs For Swingin' Lovers
Nichael Buble - Crazy Love
Bee Gees - Spirits Having Flown
Eric Clapton - Slow Hand
Carpenters -A Song For You
Aretha Fanklin - Lady Soul
Diana - Diana Ross
Dionne Warwick - Heartbreaker

At least Frank Sinatra made the list, however these pollsl mean nothing to me so take iti with a pinch of salt.
