Special Days in April

Seeing that we are such a close knit family, I thought it would be nice if you let us know the dates in the year that are special to you.

Hi Mariana

I haven't got into the habit of checking out this section yet. I am really sorry to have missed out on your entry last week. Needless to say my thoughts are with you.

Going back to my previous posting, on how April is a bad month for me, I have just heard today, that one of my close "Mathis" friends, Sheila, going back nearly 30 years , has just died very suddenly.

She was just a couple of years older than me.

It is hard to believe that today--10th -is 4 years since George died.

Sometimes it seems like ages ago--at other times it seems like just the other week!!

I am coping-because I have to--but I still miss him every day.
Here is a simple poem I wrote to describe how I miss him.

Image

Simple Pleasures, I recall.
They used to be so good.
If I could bring them back again,
There’s no doubt—I would.

Laughing at a private joke.
A smile that means “All’s right”
A Loving hug to say “Hello”
A tender kiss goodnight.

Listening to our favourite song,
Remembering all the words !!
The ticking of the Hallway Clock.
Our cat’s contented purrs.

Autumn Leaves beneath our feet,
A robin in the snow.
Getting caught in April Showers.
A summer’s sunset glow.

Strolling by the river bank,
Sunday in the Park.
Ambling through the Bluebell Woods,
Getting home by dark.

Scrambled eggs-and buttered toast,
A cosy , roaring fire.
Snuggling up to watch TV-
The snow outside gets higher.

Memories of the day we met,
Friends we’ve loved—and lost.
Holidays we spent at home—
The place we loved the most.

Simple Pleasures—once so sweet-
It cannot be denied,
Nothing is the same without,
Your loved one –by your side.

IN MEMORIAM

A post that combines,
in creative mixture,
meaningful lines
and glad-saintly picture.

Keith

Marian, I share this poignant day of remembrance
with you; my late and much-loved uncle, James Good's
birthday is today, 10 April.
