Beautiful day today 54 deg and blue skies, driving back from Fife my car was hot so I put the cool air on and had Dusty on the cd player.

INNOCENCE LOST

The gods had smiled on his sun-attended odyssey
except for one maverick storm that took advantage
of a rare Saint Elmo discharge-of-duty lapse.

Later he was lured by a siren voice
that sang of mirthful entertainment
and the promise of shared recreational pleasure.

But he was betrayed by his trusting nature,
and beguiled by the dream-isle overtures
of the seductive sea-nymph - a transfigured
harridan who filched his chaste naivety.

THE HOMECOMING

Thank you Marian, Maxine, Eman, John and Robert.
It would take more than a bit of lost innocence to
prevent me from from returning to the Ithaca (Robert)
of my Matt Monro forum friends.

Thanks L&H, it's 'good' to be back.
Speaking of prodigal sons:

ABSENT FRIEND

There is a notable absentee
from this forum's lively pages;
a well-regarded colleague he
seems to be awol for ages.
Please model citizen of Leeds
heed well this homily,
return, with your kind words and deeds,
to this other family ...

REGROUPING

Robert, I mused that maybe Gray
took some time out to slink away
to nurse each Leeds United woe;
we too lick wounds at Arsenal,
while the resurgent Tigers of Hull
ever onward and upward go ...

CUP CONCERNS

Robert, any praise of mine
translates as an Indian sign;
without star players in the Cup
could prompt Arsenal' proneness to slip up.
