Paul, yes the lines from songs on this thread are those recorded by Matt.
"You Light Up My Life" is recorded on Matt Monro "A Time For Love"
and " No One Will Ever Know" is on "Love Is The Same Anywhere"

Anyway here is another line....
Must I Get Used To Missing You. and a clue is... Not now or tomorrow

Yes Paul, I am back now and yes as Lena and Harry say, ONLY Matt songs in this topic. I have "You Light Up My Life" but not "No One Will Ever Know"
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

The song is Just Yesterday. The clue helped as I've never heard this song before. The songwriters don't ring a bell either.

Now here's a lyric from a song I just listened to last week for the first time in years. I found it on a 20 year old Matt Monro cassette tape.

"And I'll say you do have a wonderful smile"

I thought this would be easy. I don't have any clues as I know nothing about the composer or lyricist. Plus almost every other lyric includes the song title. But, here's a line that doesn't.

"Kisses me tenderly"

Marian, you're on the right track. The actual line is
Grown-ups seldom understand.

Aha--I am actually listening to Barry Manilow singing "Copacabana" at the moment, so quite difficult to think of another tune at the moment.

It is in there somewhere, I know.

This is one of my favourite Matt Monro songs: This Is All I Ask.

I also like the version by Jack Jones.

Here's a new lyric to guess:

"We walked arm in arm"

Hi Paul, the only song of Matt's that we can match these words with are "French Poodle" from Heart Of A Man CD. So assuming that this is correct, here's another line......
I Watched the apples falling one by one one.

Lena and Harry - you are correct. It's French Poodle. I'm loving that song more with each listen!

I need to think a little more about your lyric. It's certainly the right season for apples!

Hi all--I think I have it----"The First of May"

although that seems to be a lttle early for the apples

Here is mine--a very easy one-

"You get enough germs to catch pneumonia"
