Don is back next week

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
I heard that too, but only for about 3 months I think---til August, or maybe September, when Moira is back.

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Thought Don was not going to play a Matt song tonight, but he waited until near the end before he played Around the World and said the matchless Matt Monro

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
I missed the first 5 minutes, and thought oh no he is not going to play Matt, but I managed to stay awake to hear Matt sing--but do n ot remember any more ! So good to have Don back.
In fact I was so looking forward to it, i made sure that I was upstairs and in bed , all ready and waiting for 11.00, then someone said "Here is Sara Cox"-----I had not realised it was still Saturday night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Don played "the magnificent" (his words tonight) ..........Matt signing Your'e Gonna Hear From Me

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
I missed that !!!! Don always seems to like to use an "M" word to describe Matt-I guess he likes the alliteration, being a composer. !!

Don played On Days Like These..............last week
..................

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
I shall try and stay awake tonight---it is more difficult when Matt is played near the end. I have to get up early on a Monday morning !

I love that song

Softly, I will leave you softly
For my heart would break if you should wake and see me go.....

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Don played one of "Marvellous" Matt's glorious ballads tonight Beyond the Hill
............Don called Vic Damone the Singers Singer ............it sometimes feels as though Don is having a dig at someone

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Oh, that is one of my favourites. I did not even get past the news last night--I will try and get it on "Listen again ". !

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
The synopsis for Don's show this Sunday in Radio Times is:-
With classics from the great American Songbook and the British equivalent, including a memory of Jerry Vale, who died recentdly, and Cleo Laine.
I hope people don't think that Cleo has died as she hasn't. I feel whoever wrote this could have composed it more wisely. A better idea would have been to put Cleo first and then Jerry Vale who died recently.
