You're obviously not familiar with the talent of JJ then?Christine Hampshire wrote:No Karl I haven't heard Jacks version but it can't be any better than Matt's.

Is that the album version? It sounded different.ROBERT M. wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cVGmfPIass
Also like PJ Proby's OTT version.

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
I don't know if it is the album version or not
..............PJ Proby was on a radio station a few years ago explaining that even though such great singers as Matt Monro and Barbra Streisand have recorded "Somewhere" .........he was the only artist to have a hit with the song ............he does sing it a bit over the top especially when he sings the line "there's a place for UZ"

I know and Somewhere is Some-A-Where. Have seen him live twice in more recent years and he's still good. His cd Legend is great.ROBERT M. wrote:I don't know if it is the album version or not..............PJ Proby was on a radio station a few years ago explaining that even though such great singers as Matt Monro and Barbra Streisand have recorded "Somewhere" .........he was the only artist to have a hit with the song ............he does sing it a bit over the top especially when he sings the line "there's a place for UZ"

I am familiar with JJ Karl Iv'e got albums of his but he isn't a patch on Matt.
Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Well that's your opinion, personally I think he's one of the greatest American singers I've ever heard and he is amazing live - even at 80 as I saw him in February.Christine Hampshire wrote:I am familiar with JJ Karl Iv'e got albums of his but he isn't a patch on Matt.

We place Jack Jones alongside the best and the greatest of all those singers who have made top class albums and songs that they have made their own, but apart from the poor sound that doesn't do this recording any justice this is not one of Jacks best, and Matt's recording of "Somewhere" is among our favourites and unbeatable
