Thank you Terence, my title was the other way round though
I was thinking of "From Russia with Love" so thought that "From MATT MONRO, with Love" sounded nice especially as it's an album full of love songs for Valentines Day.

Yes Terence his signature would make it all the more personal

old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternatives.

I have another suggestion. Till The End Of Time is still my first choice. But this love song collection also must include:

Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words)

...a song so wonderful it has two titles!

I played it last night at my regular hotel gig and, as always, I heard Matt Monro singing along in my ear. His rendition is just beautiful.

I personally feel that this collection should include some familiar titles such as Portrait Of My Love. I realise that we all have these songs in many compilations. These love song collections sell very well in February and then again in March for Mothers Day. So it needs to appeal to the casual fan and introduce young people to Matt Monro; therefore it needs to contain song titles that people will recognise.

Hi Michele

If the twofer is definitely happening next year, then please cancel my choice of ONLY ONCE.

In its place, I would like to suggest the B-side of the Portrait Of My Love single.......YOU'RE THE TOP OF MY HIT PARADE.

I've always wondered what the song sounds like and the lyrics are perfect for Valentine's Day......your voice is the melody I adore, your words are a sweet serenade.......you're the smile on my lips and a song in my heart!

Hi Michelle

Fantastic to see so much interest in your Dads work, many young people (I class myself in that, if under 40 counts as such lol) will associate your Dad with the Movie tracks. Did he ever do much Christmas music? There seems to be so many collections around but never seen one with your Dad on.

Marianna - thanks for the HMV tip - will give Kelkoo a wizz as well!

Hi Mike. EMI released a Christmas compilation album a few years ago, with various artists participating. On the album Matt sings "When a Child Is Born" and "Marys Boy Child".
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

Hi Michele,

We Filipinos are romantic people and we love to hear love songs 24/7. We also observe Valentine's Day here to the fullest. During this time of the year many great artists from all over the globe perform to our hearts delight. How we wish Matt Jr. would perform here one Valentine's Day. I know that many Filipino will remember Great Matt through Matt Jnr.

For my choice, I would love to hear "Who Can I Turn To" and "You're Closer To Me" in Matt's Valentine CD.

Hi Michelle & fellow forum members

I agree completely with the suggestion of 'From Matt Monro, with Love' as the cd title - it sums up completely the sentiment of a Valentines selection of songs from Matt.

The songs that everyone have mentioned are perfect for the cd, my must for the collection being 'The Precious Moments' :D

Also, if I can beg you Michelle to add just one 'new-to-cd' track for this collection, how about 'Darling Come Home Soon' as the words perfectly sum up the type of song you are looking for. I've never heard Matt's interpretation of this song - but have heard another singer complete with a super swinging arangement. I'm sure Matt's version wouldn't let me down - after all, he never has!

Regards to all
Glenn

#It’s been to long I just can’t take it darling come home soon
I’m wishing every hour away
And every chance I get I pray
That soon I’ll hear the doorbell ringing#

Precious Moments

Post by Michele Monro » Mon Sep 11, 2006 1:58 pm

You will be pleased to know "Precious Moments" is going on the new CD scheduled for June 2007 - Matt at the Movies (working title)
Also known as The Warsaw Concerto from the film "The Sea Wolves

and so will "Jean", another song which is often requested, this being from "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie"

Thanks for that info Michele. Very pleased to read that. Really do like Precious Moments in particular. Be good to have all the film songs collected onto one cd. Bound to turn into another 'must have' cd:D

HELLO MICHELE, I THINK "THE ROMANTIC MONRO' WOULD BE AN APPROPRIATE TILE.
"THE LADY SMILES"--"ANOTHER TIME ANOTHER PLACE"--"AND ROSES AND ROSES"--AND "A TIME FOR LOVE" AS A FEW OF THE SONGS.

I believe a good title for the Valentine CD would be "From Matt with Love".

Three songs I love are "Til then, My Love". "When I Fall in Love", and "More".
My choice for the title of the Valentine CD is "From Matt with Love." "Til Then, My Love" and "When I Fall in Love" and "More" are my favorite romantic Matt Monro songs.

Hi Frangong--good to see you joining in our discussions straightaway!
Your suggestion of title is very similar to Diane's suggestion of "from Matt Monro, with Love".

Your song choices are excellent--"Til then, my love" is one of my particular favourites, and most of us on this forum seem to love "More".

Hope you enjoy joining in on this forum.

Frangong, we also agree with your choices and the song "More " has been recorded by so many, but Matt's is by far the best of all. :)

Im getting a bit confused here :? . Is there a Love songs CD and a Movies CD coming soon? I welcome every new release, but wont it be pushing it for new material if we already have the Hollywood & Broadway CD and Heartbreakers CD?Ive never heard Matt sing 'More', I thought I once heard it was a song he never much cared for. Is this true?

Yes Thomas--there is to be a Love songs cd for Valentines day and a Movie cd later. I think that they will contain very different tracks to "Heartbreakers" and "Hollywood and Broadway"---there are plenty more songs in both categories to make new albums.

The song "More" was on the "Matt Jr sings Monro" cd, but is now on the Marks and Spencer release "His Finest" as a solo performance.

Whether he liked this song or not---he gives a great rendition of it.
