I've always loved "Wives And Lovers", a great sing-along with cool beat, although the song is obviously out-dated. Lollipops And Roses is lovely. His "If You Go Away" is the best recording I've ever heard of this song---even better than Dusty Springfield's. I also love his version of "This Is All I Ask", but I slightly prefer Matt Monro's recording.

I have to agree with you Paul that 'Wifes and Lovers' is a very 'pretty' song in terms of sound and tempo, but as you say those lyrics are very outdated! But it paints a lovely mid 60s picture of suburbia!
I do like his cover of 'Strange in Paradise', which is a favourite of mine. 'You're Sensational' is another lively number from the Cole Porter songbook and has typically wonderful lyrics all delivered in Jacks' casual style

Really looking forward to Jack's tour now. It'll be great to see him again and hear all those great songs. You might be interested to know he now includes a tongue in cheek version of "Wives and Lovers" in his concerts which begins - Hey little boy, cap your teeth get a hairpiece....
He has a great sense of humour and is quite prepared to laugh at himself.
However he says "Wives and Lovers" was my hit, and I will sing it 'til the day I die". When the audience applauds at this, he responds "You're applauding my death!"
If anyone hears of any other tv or radio appearances during the tour, please could they let me know. Many thanks. I'll let you know how the opening night on Friday goes, but I know it'll be just fantastic!

Speaking of outdated lyrics, do any of you remember "For The Love Of Him" by Bobbi Martin from 1970? I don't know whether it was a hit in the UK. It was one of my favourites and she sang it with a perfectly dependent demeanour. Here are the lyrics:
When he opens the door says I'm home
Be aware of the look in his eyes
They tell you the mood he's in
What kind of day it's been
For the love of him
Make it your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can
There'll be little things he forgets to do
Have you told him today I love you
When he reaches out be there
Show him that someone cares,
For the love of him
Make it your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can
For the times when he won't say a word
And you wonder if there's something you said
The gentle touch of your hand
Tell him you understand
For the love of him
Make it your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can
He's a man and a man have to try
Let him run, let him fall, let him cry
His world won't fall apart
If you take him into your arms
For the love of him
Make it your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can.
When he opens the door says I'm home
Be aware of the look in his eyes
They tell you the mood he's in
What kind of day it's been
For the love of him
Make it your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can
There'll be little things he forgets to do

Hello everyone,
Thanks Michael for you wishes for Jack's tour. It begins tomorrow at the Cliffs Pavilion Southend, which is where I'll be seeing him, then he's at the Symphony Hall - Birmingham, Sinah Warren Hotel - Hayling Island,
The Royal - Norwich, The Corn Exchange - Kings Lynn, The Embassy - Skegness, Royal Concert Hall - Glasgow, The Sage Centre - Gateshead,
Bridgewater Hall - Manchester, North Wales Theatre - Llandudno, The Fairfield Halls - Croydon, The Forum Theatre - Malvern, Cadogan Hall - London, then the final concert in Dublin. I'll have to wait until Croydon for my next concert but then finish with Malvern and London.
He admitted to being a little jet-lagged on this morning's "Breakfast" interview, he probably just flew in yesterday, but I'm sure he'll be in good voice again for the tour.

Hi all-have not got round yet to watching Breakfast tv-will try to watch it later. I like Jack singing uptempo songs-I especially like "I must know", and "The Mood I'm in". I also love "I'm all smiles, but I guess my fave JJ song is the Carly Simon song-"That's the way I've always heard it should be" duet with Susan George. Great song, and great version of it.

We are sure Jack will be in good voice Marian, and talking of jet-lag, when Al Martino visits here he always makes sure that he arrive a few days before the tour begins due to experiencing jet-lag and this has nothing whatsoever to do with age.
Jack seemed relaxed talking of the tour and again should get some appreciative audiences. And yes he He mentioned "Hey Little Boy, cap your teeth get a hairpeice
We've been to most of these venues to see shows and Sinah Warren was for a number of years one of our favourite holiday centres.
Look forward to hearing from you Marian.

For fans of Jack Jones, please note that his RCA recording "Write Me A Love Song Charlie" has been released on CD in Japan by the Sinatra Society Of Japan. I have received my copy and it looks beautiful like a mini LP cover. The sound is 24 bit remastered and gorgeous. Jack Jones is in his element, interpreting the songs of Charles Aznavour.
OK for you-but over here,IMPORTS are very costly!Terence Lee wrote:For fans of Jack Jones, please note that his RCA recording "Write Me A Love Song Charlie" has been released on CD in Japan by the Sinatra Society Of Japan. I have most of JJ's LPs transferred to CD including the Aznavour and Michel Legrand ones-now I'm working on IF YOU EVER LEAVE ME and a few RCA LPS-not keen on some of the funky ones.Terence Lee wrote:Hi Mark
It was costly for me too as I had to order it online from Tokyo. With shipping, it came to almost US$30.
But the release of Jack's RCA albums on CD is always an event to celebrate and splurge!
Hi all,
Just going back to the opening night of Jack's tour, mainly for Lena and Harry. as I promised I would let them know how it went.
Well, apart from what seemed hours of holdups on the M25, we eventually reached Southend in good time. Jack was looking a lot better than he did on the Breakfast interview, and was in good form and singing well. He had changed many of the songs from his last tour and included quite a few from his very early albums like "Harbour," which I had never heard him sing live before. He soon established an excellent rapport with the audience, and it was a very enjoyable evening altogether. I stiil don't know how he manages to hold on to those final notes for so long.
Looking forward to Croydon next, so will have to be patient until the 10th. Good reports from friends of the Birmingham concert last night too.
