THE RARE MONRO

Post by Administrator » Fri Dec 02, 2005 12:57 am

It's coming soon, the "Rare Monro", the one I have been waiting to release. What do you want on it? I will try my best to grant your wishes. Some tracks cannot be included for legal reasons as they are not owned by EMI/Capitol, but I will do my best

Songs For "Rare Monro"

Post by hpooch » Fri Dec 02, 2005 4:46 am

Some of the songs you should try to put into the "Rare Monro" are from his live concert appearances on radio and TV:
"New York New York" with Billy May conducting Radio Big Band (1982)
"I Write the Songs" with medley of "Portrait of My Love" & "Walk Away"
"Thanks to the Lord" & "Just a Heartbreak Ago" (from BBC - TV)
"Let Me Try Again" (Live Concert take-off on Sinatra)
I think the above should be made available to all of Matt's Fans!!

Yes, I would also love to hear Matt singing "I Write The Songs". And how about including "Darling Come Home Soon"? :)

#I’m wishing every hour away
And every chance I get I pray
That soon I’ll hear the doorbell ringing#

I Second Birth Of The Blues

and one I heard years ago played on radio by Matt, .."Try To Remember"?

But whatever the selection i'm sure it'll be worth it.

Rare Matt

Post by hpooch » Fri Dec 02, 2005 5:51 pm

There is a better version of Matt singing "Birth of the Blues" with the Billy May Orchestra on May 23, 1982 from Fairfield Hall, Croighton,UK instead of the DVD version with Syd Lawrence Orch. Another rare live swinging performance was "Strike Up the Band" with the Nelson Riddle Band incl.
"When You Become a Man" (May 1968). How about Matt singing in 1962 "In Time" from a demo disc??

My Wish List

Post by grandpajan » Mon Jan 02, 2006 3:07 am

Michele,

Here is my wish list for the songs I would like to see on future CDs.
"All That Remains","By Her Side","If There Ever Was A Next Time","Mary's Boy Child","More (without Matt Monro Jr.","The Long And Winding Road","Try To Remember","When A Child Is Born","Just A Heartbreak Ago","Only The Nightwind Knows","Other People","Picking Up The Pieces" and "Tahiti".
Most of the songs have never seen the light of day on a CD and some have only appeared once on a release that is out of print now.
