Marian, yes it is Well done, "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling." One of those popular well known Irish songs, that like so many Irish songs have such sweet melody and simple but wonderful lyrics.
Well, that's a surprise!
I'm afraid this might take a while everyone, so could someone else slot in please while I get my thinking cap on?
Is it the introduction to a song, or just any verse from a song I have to think of? Sorry I've not been following too closely, as you've probably noticed!
Sorry Marian, it's not that one. Just a little clue, this is another Cole Porter number, and that was the introduction. I'll add a couple of lines from a verse too as I don't want it to be too difficult!
I've been asked to have a meal
By a big tycoon in steel..
Hi all--here's another one----the verse is longer than the song--plus the first 2 lines sometimes differ, but that should not put you off---It is easy!!
How glad a million laddies
From millionaires to caddies
Would be to capture me !
But you had such persitence,
You wore down my resistance :
I fell, and it was swell
You're my big and brave and handsome Romeo
How I won you, I shall never, never know
It's not that you're attractive
but, oh, my heart grew active
When you came into view.
The world is lyrical because a miracle
Has brought my lover to me
Though she's some other place
Her face I see
At night I creep in bed, and never sleep in bed
But look above in the air
And to my greatest joy my love is there
