A New Game, Remember This Verse? Just Name The Refrain.
Hi Lena and Harry---that is funny--that is the one I was thinking of-then I rejected it.
I emailed Michele yesterday about more Unwanted post on here, and I said--as a joke---maybe we should call it "IQ Tests"---that will put them off--Lo and behold--I had a big surprise this morning to see that Michele had renamed this as "IQ tests ". Thanks Michele !

Well this verse is going round in my brain, but I was beginning to have doubts if this was the correct song, the albums that we have of Shirley's, Eight in all from the earlier years are "Columbia" and "Music For Pleasure" albums. This song isn't on any of our CDs either, but i knew that she sang this song from way back and knew that because i love her version of this song so much that it was somewhere in our posession. I eventually found what i was searching for Shirley singing I'll get By on a 45rpm but again no verse
so Terence it was really a pure guess, and so here i go on another search for this verse.
Well now i've bored you all with this useless information.
i'll find a new verse, Be back soon Folks!!!!

I would never have gotten that song, Lena and Harry. Thanks for the opportunity to submit the first Christmas opening verse:
Christmas toys all over the place,
Little Johnny wears a funny smile upon his face;
For Johnny has a secret,
And this secret he must share,
He wants to tell somebody,
So he tells his Teddy Bear.

And this secret he must share,
He wants to tell somebody,
So he tells his Teddy Bear.

Paul, this is always a favourite at Christmas Time,
We like the The Beverley Sisters recording.
I saw Mummy Kissing Santa Clause.
Here's another....
Christmas comes but once a year
For every girl and boy.
The laughter and the joy
They find in each new toy.
I'll tell you of a little Boy
Lived across the way
This little fellows Christmas
Is just another day.

Very good Lena and Harry -- Actually the title is I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, but let's not worry about the fine details!
My favourite recording is by Jackie Gleason's Orchestra. He didn't record the opening verse, but it was a lovely full orchestral arrangement. So beautiful. I've never heard of the Beverley Sisters.
I never heard of your sad Christmas song.
There are so many nice opening verses of Christmas songs. I hope I get a chance to supply some more! I'm looking forward to Marian's.
