It is perfectly Ok to list the same singer/and song as someone else previously--I am surprised at how few times it has happened.

I'm really surprised that Nat track (That Sunday...) has been chosen by two different people.

I did actually know that track was one of Paul's Nat King Coles favourites, as it was mine-so I was not surprised.

Jon, I haven't heard Robert Whites version of "Song Of The Seals," and although I enjoy One or Two other of his recordings, i have to say that after hearing so many John Mc Cormack recordings (and we have them all on shellac  ) those songs then repeated can become tedious.
He is popular in the White House though. He first sang there for President Kennedy and then Mrs Carter fell in love with the song "When You And I Were Young Maggie," and so back he went and also learned the words of All Through The Night ..in Welsh. Not sure why though.
Just wondered if you had watched the "Singers Of The World "competition from St David's Hall Cardiff. ??
Twenty Five of the worlds best singers competing. Just wonderful. :)

All Through the Night or Ar Hyd Y Nos is a very well known song in Wales Lena and Harry. More often sung in Welsh than English. We learned it in Welsh at school. :D
Looks like the song may even have originated in Wales..
"Ar Hyd y Nos" is a Welsh folksong sung to a tune which was first recorded in Edward Jones' Musical and Poetical Relics of the Welsh Bards (1784). The Welsh lyrics were written by John Ceiriog Hughes. It has been translated into several languages, including English."

I love this song Marian, particularly sung by a Welsh Male Voice Choir.
We used to sing it at school, in English of course, and my Aunt chose this as one of the pieces of music to be played at her funeral.

I also remember other words we used to sing to it too.

Hi Lena and Harry

I saw the final of Cardiff Singer on Sunday (didn't see the preliminaries as my digital reception is stuffed at the moment but I may try and catch a few of them on bbciplayer). It was enjoyable, though, to be honest, I'm more interested in the lieder/song competition, which I believe will be on BBC4 soon. The Russian winner was a worthy victor though.

Marian/Lena and Harry

"Ar Hyd Y Nos" is a nice song and we often sang it in assembly in school, though in the English version. I have a fairly recent recording of it - in Welsh - by the fine Austrian mezzo-soprano Angelika Kirschlager, on which she sings Haydn's arrangement (not really much different to the usual one really) amidst a wide-ranging collection of other classical and lighter songs, though this CD is now sadly deleted and no longer commercially available.
