What a wonderful programme that was! I just finished listening to it. One really forgets that Charles Strouse wrote all those songs.

I guess that was the show version of This Is The Life. I never heard that before and didn't even know it was from a musical or written by Charles Strouse. :oops: I thought it was written especially for Matt Monro.

I loved the Bye Bye Birdie :) songs especially as well as Once Upon A Time. I wonder if Matt Monro ever recorded it. :?: It would have been perfect for his range.

Lena and Harry -- Did they play the interval (fascinating interview with Mr Strouse) in the Mermaid Theatre? It seemed live as Janey Lee Grace joked with Ken Bruce right as the second half began. Where is the Mermaid Theatre?

Also, I got to hear the full ending of I Don't Need Anything But You on the listen again feature.

It was a wonderful show Paul. No they didn't play the interval, but it was an interesting interview.
The Mermaid Theatre is in Puddle Dock which is off Victoria Enbankment just past Blackfriars Bridge.
That was good to know that you heard the final song "I Don't Need Anything But You." It was cut off before the end when we heard it the next day.

:mrgreen: I'm still so envious that Lena and Harry have had the wonderful opportunity to see Friday Night Is Music Night. The past few weeks have been sensational. 8) Last Friday's opened with Walton's Crown Imperial, which is probably my favourite march. And then later Elgar's Chanson de Matin and If I Loved You from Carousel, which Andrew Lloyd Webber feels is the best song ever from a musical.

I love the variety of music and especially the light music selections on FNIMN. I hope the programme continues forever. :)

This programme was first aired in 1952 on the Light programme and then on to BBC2 Paul and we also hope it goes on and on. :lol:
