They were pretty good sales. But it deserved top 10 with the quality of those songs. It was a tough week. But quality records like The Performance rarely ever make the top 75 these days, so she and her fans should be proud.

I wish she'd do a UK tour in 2010. I'd love to see her perform these songs and her classic hits live.

I think this is one of Shirley Basssey's best albums. I think all the tracks are great, Shirley at her best! :D

Like John, I love the entire album too. She had some difficulty at first recording the songs if you watch IMAGINE. My faves from the album are The Girl From Tiger Bay, The Apartment, The Performance & This Time.

Thanks John and Terrence for the positive reaction. I will let you know that the guys in the chart forums are recommending it too. :)

According to the midweek chart, the album is back in the top 30.

I'm sorry Terrence, but the Midweek Charts are only for Music Week subscribers. And we are only allowed to view it certain hours each day. It's now down for the week, so even subscribers can no longer see it. It's all very secretive and we aren't supposed to share specific positions but just the general range. But the top positions are usually leaked to various chart forums like Buzzjack, The Music Room, and ChCmedia.

Thanks for the explanation Paul. So far, The Performance has been disappointing chart-wise considering that Get The Party Started debuted at no. 6 on the British charts.

Yes, it is quite surprising it hasn't reached a higher chart position. In my opinion it is far better then "Get The Party Started", because most of those track were just remixes.
My favourites from this new album are "Our Time Is Now", "Almost There" and "The Girl From Tiger Bay". But saying that I don't think there is a bad track on the album.

It is a fantastic album and Shirley has been promoting it a lot which has been such a plus to see so much of her on T.V.
I suppose if you aren't a die hard fan of hers the songs will take a bit of getting used to.
We are loving it especially 'The Girl From Tiger Bay' and 'After The Rain' :D :D

It was nice to read your positive comments on the songs on The Performance in the "listening" section. It proves that there are still great songs being written by the current crop of excellent songwriters.
