You've just reminded me that 'Candide' made Bernstein's top ten compositions on the BBC4 program, I think it was the Overture they selected, but gosh I can't be sure :oops:

I also have a programme from "The Sound of Music" from 1961, when it was performed at The Palace Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue.
I remember going to both this show, and "West Side Story" as a teenager.
Eunice Gayson was in this production, she used to be a Rank starlet at one time. Maria was Jean Bayless, Roger Dann Captain Von Trapp, and Constance Shacklock, a leading opera singer, took the part of the Mother Abbess. I remember her singing at the Last Night of the Proms once.

We have a collection of these programmes too, lots of ephemeral memorabillia, and song sheets. :lol:
