Well-at least "Secret Millionaire" is on tonight--one of my favourites--and "Come dine with me"--but that could be a repeat--apart from that--zippo!!! [as they say ]

"Secret Millionaire" was just heartbreaking again last night--so sad to see a once busy and prosperous holiday resort like Blackpool get so run down---it was just so sad to see how so many just struggle to survive--and the good people who help. I wish that "The Secret Millionaire" could have given away more money--£50.000.00 out of 20 Million pounds does not seem much--but maybe he intends to follow them through -I hope so.

It is repeated again tonight.

Why is there not much more publicity for these unsung heroes- who work tirelessly with very little reward--instead of all this unrelenting coverage of Jade Goody--yes it was very sad that she died so young---but I think the whole thing needs to be dropped and Jade given a quiet send-off with family and friends-I just read on Teletext that Michael Jackson is thinking of attending her funeral---why ?????

Plus they are televising the funeral, with large tv screens outside for everyone to see---it has just gone too far, in my opinion. If all those who had left flowers for Jade--probably people who never even knew her---if they sent a donation to a Charity, any charity would be fine, and just left a note for Jade, then something good would come out of it all--as it is--as with Princess Diana, the only winners are the Florists.

Sorry to go on about this, but this whole scenario is now making me feel really uncomfortable--as though her family were still trying to make money out of her still, even though ahe has gone, and yet there are so many people and causes in desperate need of money-even small amounts. I do feel really strongly about this.

I loved the "Val Doonican show" last week--it was just so nostalgic, and wonderful to see some faces of those no longer with us---Anthony Newley, John Denver, Rosemary Clooney, --even Arthur Askey and Ted Ray--not to mention a very young looking Gloria Hunniford---some lovely songs-although we only heard extracts-I loved the song Val was singing with John Denver. Val seemed such a lovely guy, and even today at 80, he seems little changed--very relaxed--we need more of this sort of thing on our Tv.

I agree with everything you say Mariana. 'The Secret Millionaire' was heartbreaking. What IS happening in this country when all people want to read about are 'celebrities'?Sandra.

I too agree with everything you wrote Mariana. There's too much focus on celebrities. I don't even live there, but I'm tired of hearing about Jade Goody. You make excellent points about charities --- many are quite small in size and need donations and volunteers.

Regarding Sandra's question -- There was a TV programme in the US that said celebrities have become our immediate families since families are now so spreadout. I hate to admit this, but I knew more details about Jade Goody's medical condition than I knew about my cousin's in Iowa who passed away from cancer last year. I guess I'm validating the TV programme and we become closer to celebrities than our own families. :(

Thanks Paul and Sandra-I am so glad that you both agree with me. I am not in a position to do much-but do what I can.

If everyone did the same, the world would be a better place.

I agree with everything you said Marian, regarding Jade. Yes, it was very sad, but it is time to draw a line under it now, why do they have to televise it? The whole thing has gone too far.

The only reason Michael Jackson might attend the funeral is for publicity - he didn't even know her

Yes, we all stated how sad it was about Jade Goody, but death is sad in any family regardless of age or status, and not everyone is able to leave and provide for their loved ones in the way that Jade has been able to.
For instance her husband Jack Tweed is buying a £350.000 luxury flat. He agreed and signed the deal last Thursday.  Football striker Jermain Defoe and model Danielle Lloyd will be his new neighbours.

Yet I read a strange report in one of the London newspapers yesterday which said that Jade's two young sons have flown off to Australia with their father - whose name escapes me - so "... would miss their mother's funeral"!! Can this be true???

Apparently so Jon, their Father thinks it best to take them as far away as possible from the funeral day that's coming up.
Jade didn't want them to be at the funeral.
