THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD-- LULU OR DAVID BOWIE

I like Bowie but actually prefer Lulu on this one :)

I LOVED Dorothy Squires Lena and Harry and would probably have put her in your choices of 'The Man That Got Away' :)

'What A Difference A Day Makes' Esther Phillips/Diana Ross /Dinah Washington

Dinah Washington is the ultimate version for us :)

Once you hear Pia Zadora's version of The Man That Got Away, you'll never want to hear any other version.

Canadian Sunset:

Hugo Winterhalter
Andy Williams

The instrumental by Hugo Winterhalter is clearly the best version.

We like Dorothy Squires Sandra, and Paul I haven't heard the Pia Zadora's version of "The Man That Got Away," but Judy Garland's version could be included on this one too.
Another great song .. "Septermber in the rain"
Countless good versions of this one, Doris Day, Anita o'Day, June Christy ,
but again it has to be DIANA WASHINGTON. :D :D

I am quite shocked on this Saturday morning!! You know and own every recording of our kind of music, Lena and Harry! You really must get the two records Pia Zadora recorded with the London Philharmonic. The first is especially wonderful.

Yes, I had seen you selected Judy Garland's recording of The Man That Got Away on the previous page. I'm not a fan of her singing. I do appreciate that she stuck to the composer's melody and rarely improvised.

Whenever September In The Rain is mentioned, we must include George Shearing. I'd say his version is the best.

I BELIEVE IN YOU----Shirley Bassey--Jack Jones---Bobby Darin.

I love them all--but Bobby Darin is the favourite.

We remember the scandal associated with Pia Zadora as a young Sixteen or Seventeen year old girl when she was involved with and married a very wealthy man quite a number of years older than her. Newspapers having a field day.
Personally, I think for a young girl she should have been congratulated on having a brain and making such an intelligent choice. :D :D :D
However Paul, over the following years she somehow faded into oblivion here but her album "I Am What I Am " looks to be big band numbers so we'll give it a try. :)

AGAIN. .this couldn't happen again MEL TORME, ..VIC DAMONE.
Very close, but this goes to Vic Damone. :)

LOVE that song Lena and Harry but haven't got it by any one but on an old LP of Cliff Richard!!

TILL------ Shirley Bassey/Tom Jones/Dorothy Squires/Tony Bennett.

All great versions in their different ways but going for Dorothy Squires :)

AGAIN is a lovely song Sandra, Nat King Cole sings this beautifully too, and the CONCORDS ruined it. :(

I'M ALWAYS CHASING RAINBOWS, another beautiful song an endless list of recordings, Judy Garland's was popular, Barbra Streisand, Helen Forrest, but it's still Perry Como's that takes some beating. :)

One of my favourite songs ever--

"THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT"--I have lots of "favourite" versions of this song---

Tony Bennett--Michael Buble--Westlife--Frank Sinatra--etc

But Frank Sinatra's is the best version for me--100%.
