You may have had 'Lets Twist again', but did you have Chubby Checkers original Twist single simply called 'The Twist' ?. 'Lets twist again' was his follow on, for the following summer.

Chubby was quite a dancing trend-setter, following up the Twist songs with 'The Hucklebuck'

Trying to remember the name of the dance that Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney make up in 'Strike up the band' - the La Conga I think. Anyway, they sing a song called.....'The La Conga'!

I think someone else jumped on the Twist bandwagon -

The Peppermint Twist - Joey Dee and the Starlighters

Twist Senora - Gary US Bonds

and of course .....

Ya Ya Twist by our favourite Pet

And the twist craze was followed by lots of others including the Mash Potato, which was 'resurrected' (get it!) in 'the Monster Mash' in the 1970s.

Connie Francis also promised her beau that they could 'Mash potato to a jukebox tune' in her sunny summer hit V.A.C.A.T.I.O.N., but thats not got a dance name in the title

"Do the conga"

Chubby Checker followed on about 1962 with "Slow Twisting " too Mike.
Chubby Checker real name Earnest Evans  was guest on Eric Hall's prog a couple of months ago. Sounded such a lovely personality.
We suddenly remembered the The Mashed Potato :) and then there was the disco song when we remember a long line of us on the dance floor sitting behind each other shuffling along with the record D.I.S.C.O.
And what about The Time Warp.

Sam Cooke sang a couple of dance related tracks including

'Everybody loves to cha cha cha' and the more famous 'Twisting the Night away'

Didn't realise the Kylie was touring this year - have seen her twice including once at MEN arena which Marc's cousin thought was some sort of gay club until she realised that it stands for Manchester Evening News! (ALthough when Kylie plays there it almost will be  )

Have we had 'Blame it on the Bosa Nova'? by Eydie Gorme?

Or 'Ländler' from the Sound of Music

'Blame it on the boogie' - the jackson 5 (Marcs suggestion!)

And now Marc is starting to make me add Eurovision songs

e.g. Denmark 2006 - 'The Twist of Love' - Sidsel Ben Semmane

Denmark (again) 1979 - 'Disco Tango' - Tommy Seebach
