Thanks for your list Lena and Harry, some great choices there, and some of my favourite singers there, as you know. I bet it was a struggle for you both getting down to the final 12, each, it was hard enough for me.

twixt working, travelling 110 miles to and from work, and keeping Marc and puppy amused, I am enjoying reading your lists! Very glad to see Artifcial Flowers on Harry's list. Bobby Darin rarely sounded better! I'm working on my own eclectic list which I hope to post soon!

Some more great choices there Mike, I love The Seekers "Colours of my Life", also "Bobby Darin's "Don't rain on my Parade" is brilliant.

Just noticed a mistake I made a few days ago  I said "Rainbow Connection" was from Sesame Street, I did mean "The Muppets". I always get the two mixed up for some reason.

Great list Mike--and clever with all the "iests"--I had guessed Bobby and Eydie would be there--2 of my fave tracks--but not quite in my top 12.
What happened to Alma and "More" ???

Now we need you to decide on just ONE out of your list--if you were only allowed one choice.

John, I'm glad you realised that "The Rainbow Connection" was from the Muppets--as I said previously--I searched and searched for a connection with Sesame Street--I do not get them confused as I know very little about Sesame Street--well, you could even say nothing---but I do know a bit about The Muppets.

I can't think why I even mentioned Sesame Street to be honest, and it only just came to me tonight for some reason, I must have been having a senior moment!

Great to see everyone's lists posted up. I may consider getting a Lisa Stansfield album following Paul's recommendation - I have a recording of her singing Gershwin's "They Can't take That Away From Me" which I enjoy. Variety seems to be the name of the game - I also like "If Love Were All" by Noel Coward, Lena. Mike, good to see that you've included A Manic Street Preachers' number: "A Design For Life" - anthemic, yes, though by no means my favourite of theirs, but still a goodie. And I see we appear to have settled the debate about "The Rainbow Connection": it's from "The Muppets", not "Sesame Street". I don't like the song all that much, though, to be honest.

All these lists are fascinating. I think EMI should put out a box set of all our songs. :)

I guess I would expect Marian from Kent to pick up on my 14 selections---must have been all those years in banking.

So pleased that Marian from Reading included Take Five. It may be the ultimate jazz song. Everyone knows it and loves it.

Jon and everyone: Yes, you must have Lisa Stansfield in your collection, especially Real Love. I don't have her swing album unfortunately. Hopefully it will be reissued one day.

Robert: Wouldn't it be such a wonderful surprise for David Jacobs, Russell Davies, Terry Wogan, or Sarah Kennedy to play Ethel Baby instead of all the usual MM songs? I should send Sarah a request to play it as her "show tune" one morning. I know she adores Matt Monro.

Lena and Harry: I've never heard that Ivor Novello song, so I must find that. And I still haven't heard the Ketelby piece.

Mike: I think my life would be fine if I never heard the overplayed Dancing Queen again. But SOS, Honey Honey, or Gimme Gimme Gimme are another story ... love 'em. :D

And I must give special notice to Harry's selection of the beautiful Intermezzo from Cavalera Rusticana. One of the loveliest moments in any opera. :)

John: I can't recall if you ever determined your #1 song. Remember that it must be done. If you'd like, I can easily make the choice for you between those two songs. :)

And we're still waiting for more lists. It seems two lists are missing from a certain couple in York. :?: :?

Hi Paul, no I still haven't determined my number 1 song, I have had many sleepless night worrying about it.
I really love "All That Remains", Matt sings it with such warmth and feeling, it is just wonderful.
But I also love Al's "Here In My Heart", to see him perform this song is just terrific, always brings the house down.
