Hi John

I love these 2 albums but on this twofer, several tracks sound distorted. Do you hear it on your system?

I used to listen to Richard Claydeman quite a lot--even went to see him in concert once. Very much easy-listening music--and very soothing.

One of my favourite tunes from him was "Ballade pour Adeline".

Been listening to the Matt songs "Curiouser and Curiouser" and "The Me I Never Knew" from the album "For the Present" (same album that "Sarah's Coming Home", which someone recently mentioned on another post, is on). Great.

Richard Clayderman used to be quite famous at one time, didn't he, but you never hear much about him now. The TV adverts for his albums gave rise to the oft-repeated phrase "this album is not available in any store" and to a succession of recordings only available by post/subscription. Never bought any myself though.

My Aunt used to have a couple of cassette tapes of Richard Clayderman, when I used to go and stay for the school holidays she played them a lot, nice and relaxing music. I haven't heard much of him in later years though.

There was a brief time when it was considered hip to play Clayderman tunes on the piano. I bought the books but never played the tunes. Dame Shirley Bassey invited him to be her special guest on her TV spectacular "A Special Lady" at the height of his fame. If I remember correctly, he played "He's Out Of My Life" while she crooned.

Wow! I never knew I was hip. 8) I still play Clayderman arrangements frequently and people still love them. Just last night I played The Poor People Of Paris. Ballade Pour Adeline is one of my most requested songs, and people who have never heard it are attracted to it. :)

James Last also did a lovely version of "Ballade pour Adeline", and I have a cd of Richard Clayderman, and James Last performing together.

Terence, I am sorry I have only just read your message about the Perry Como cd, I haven't noticed any distortion on this one, I must admit. On some of his older recordings I have noticed an odd track or two that aren't too good though.
