Duets

Post by mike » Tue Dec 13, 2011 4:43 pm

I saw on here somewhere that the proposed Duets album has been overtaken by several other projects. I was thinking today (yes it did hurt quite a bit) that it would be a great way to promote Matt to a wider audience, as fans of Matt's singing partners try out the album. I can think of 3 duets that are already available, one with Matt Jr, one with Petula Clark and one with Cliff.

Are there restrictions on what tracks could be chosen if there are no multitracks available?

Who would you choose to duet with Matt?

Cool question Mike. I'd like to see a duet with Morrissey, Paul Byrom (ex Celtic Thunder), or Westlife.

This is a brilliant idea Mike. I'd love to have the following artists record new duets with Matt:

Guy Garvey (from Elbow)
Chris Martin
Gabrielle
Sharleen Spiteri
Richard Hawley
Michael Kiwanuka
Katy B
Keane
and of course Jamie Cullum, Robbie Williams, and Lisa Stansfield

Marian, that's what my Mum and Dad said when I sprung the question on them..and I mentioned Morrissey. They said don't even tarnish the good name and talent of our boy Matt by using his name in the same breath as Morrissey. Then my Dad starts off on Morrissey as a talentless...bleeeeeppppp!!!!! I love when I have these conversations with my parents.

My daughter is a Morrissey fan too Eman, but I'm afraid I agree whole heartedly with your Mum and Dad!

LOL!! Marian. Parents and their children will always agree to disagree..however I discovered our Matt through a cd and was playing it and was shocked he was one of my Mum and Dad's faves. I never heard them or at least remember them playing his records when I was a kid, but sure enough they had some in the boxes in the garage!! Now Matt's music is something that brings us together.

Just watched Coldplay at Dingwalls gig that was on BBC this week. So I can see Chris Martin as a good choice. Tom from Keane was excellent with Queen (saw it on Youtube) last year.

I'm thinking Michael Buble would be good commercially. Personally I'd choose The Divine Comedy, as they always do such great duets and cover versions.
