FRANK SINATRA IN BAYSWATER

Post by Lena & Harry Smith » Sun Jan 22, 2012 7:52 pm

Tomorrow night on BBC 2 Radio at 10 O'clock PM, the 23rd Jan; a story of the "Great Songs From Great Britain" allegedly, the only studio album that Frank Sinatra made outside the United States spending Three days at CTS Studios in Londons Bayswater during a charity tour of 1962. Tony Hatch was apparently one of about Six eye witnesses to the recordings.
This album features some of my top Sinatra songs.
The following night again BBC 2 Radio 10 0'Clock Tuesday 24th, a programme featuring Sinatras REPRISE recordings. Looks good. !!!

Two great songs Sandra, and we really enjoyed the programme tonight. This album was Sinatra at his very best.
He sang my Two favourites too. .. I'll Follow My Secret Heart and We'll Gather Lilacs.
Sir Winstone Churchill was mentioned here, but Frank met him earlier in 1953 when he and Ava Gardner attended a dinner party at the Dorchester hotel. Al Martino was a special guest that evening after he made his hit recording of "Here In My Heart" and he sat next to Churchill which he always said was a great honour for him.
Nice to hear David Jacobs on the programme, and Tony Hatch too. !!!

I have just finished listening Lena and Harry and have to say what a fantastic programme.
How interesting to hear of the 'ordinary' venues he appeared at over here originally.
Some songs we hadn't heard him sing before either ,or the stories from the people interviewed.
The album is one of our 'must plays' in the car- great stuff :D
